MDbassin Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Is the sunline shooter worth the extra cost? Or is sniper the better buy Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted February 24, 2017 Super User Posted February 24, 2017 Sniper is an excellent line as it's very strong , no much memory , and not much stretch compared to most other managable flouro lines . Sniper is a great all purpose flouro , where it really shines in my opinion is in the lower # lines like 5 - 8 as it is very good on spinning reels ! Shooter is also very strong , very good abraison resistance , and is very sensitive ( bite detection ) is does have more memory than Sniper and also less stretch . an excellent line for jigs !!! i use a lot of Sniper in 6, 8 , & 14 lb. and 10 & 14 in Shooter ( i use the Metan Green Shooter ) both top of the line in flourocarbon lines , they will have you covered in near any situation that calls for flouro 1 Quote
MDbassin Posted February 24, 2017 Author Posted February 24, 2017 I was thinking #10 or #12 for main line for my cranking reel and #16 for leader for jigs maybe heavier I don't know I just want the thicker line for the abrasion resistance when flipping around docks and lay downs. This is new to me using Fluor leaders I usually just tie straight to braid and have been successful but want to see if I get more bites using a leader so I want to try it out this year. So I'm not quite sure what pound test to get for leader Quote

Super User iabass8 Posted February 24, 2017 Super User Posted February 24, 2017 Buying shooter as leader material is a massive waste of money. Just buy sunline leader material. Shooter is a fantastic bottom contact line. Sniper is a better value. 4 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted February 24, 2017 Global Moderator Posted February 24, 2017 At the Bassmaster Elite Series on Okeechobee yesterday, my pro told me that he and many of his friends use Sniper for 14# and lighter, Shooter 16# and up. Even tho mine was sponsored by them, many others who are not will use either the same way also. ( unles of course they have other line sponsors) Mike Mike Quote
Super User WRB Posted February 24, 2017 Super User Posted February 24, 2017 When Sniper first came out it was only in 5 to 8 lbs test, Shooter was the original Sunline FC and not availble in under 10 lb test. Sniper has evolved to Super Super Sniper and in 10 to 20 lb test is very similar if not the same line as original Shooter. New Shooter is a tougher more abrasion resistant line then the original Shooter. Today I use Super Sniper from 5 to 16 lb test. Tom Quote
