Does anyone have any information on either of these two budget Daiwa spinning reels?

Revros 2000 or 2500
RG 2000 or 2500

What features do they have closer to the mid/higher end models?

They seem like a nice reel for the price and worth considering. Thanks for any/all help and best wishes on the water.

I'd look at the Legalis for the same price... Alu frame and bearings still where you need them.

Speaking from my little experience with the Revros 2500 is very positive. Smooth drag and overall a smooth. Casts great, can't go wrong.

I own a Revros and have been blown away by how nice of a reel it is for the money.  It is super smooth and casts a mile.  I went back to buy a second and found the newly released RG-AB which seems like almost the same reel, just a tiny bit lighter.  Ended up buying that.  Generally, I would say if you enjoy a smooth reel and are comfortable with an average weight, you will probably love either of them.  If you really value the lightest weight reel, you might need to pay a bit more but you can find a lighter reel that probably won't be as smooth.

That's my dilemma...both seem nice and I am wondering what features are better on each reel.  The color of the RG is pretty cool...looks like a JDM older Emeraldas and with a cork RCS knob, that RG might be awesome looking.

Regarding a lightvweight spool casting easier than a heavier weight spool requires some knowledge about inertia. The heavier spool requires more energy to start it spinning and more energy to stop it. When a reel spool spins faster then the line coming off it developers a backlash because the spool keeps spinning.

My sense is that it would be very difficult to find a significant function or feature difference between the two reels.  The RG is a tiny bit lighter.  If you like the RG's appearance better, go with that, I think you'll be equally happy with either from a functionality perspective.

Hey Tom, I think we are comparing spinning reels in this thread.

I have a revros 2000, for $50 I don't think there is a better reel. Drag is nice and it's smooth. Maybe a little heavy but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another

I currently own a Revros 2000 , 2500, A lagalis 3500, and a Fuego.  These Revros reels are awesome for the price. Well balanced, good retrieve, and are VERY comfortable in my hand.  I recommend them to anyone. I used my Legalis for pike/salt.   I prefer my Fuego to the others but I like its looks better with all the red.   If I'm buying a reel between $40 and $95 it would be a reveros.

Yes this is an old thread but whatever... If you havent already, BUY THE RG! Its lighter and smoother for like 10-20$ more (depending where you buy it). The Revros seems solid too. If you already bought one, how do you like it.

Glad to hear this.  I looked for a spinning reel to give to my brother-in-law for his birthday.  This is the reel I chose.  Will be seeing him Monday so I'll be getting some feedback on it then.

You wont be disappointed, especially for that price range.
