SWVABass Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 So I just got my new spinning set up ordered. 7'2" med light finesse fast action. I'm pairing it up with a 3000 size reel. What I need is some good input on braid to use. I will be using it to throw a Spybait, jerkbait, Ned rig, drop shot, Neko rig, and possibly really small topwaters if the need came up. So right now I have one spinning outfit with spiderwire stealth glow-vis 15lb as a main line. what should I be looking at for this rod? Casting distance and sensitivity would be my priorities. Thanks!! Quote
1simplemann Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Lots of choice's out there. You'll get the phone book for answers. Personally, I use FINS XS and Fins Windtamer in 15lb. My set ups are very similar to yours. Windtamer doesn't tangle as much because it's 4 strand and stiffer but it's noisy going through the guides. Drives me crazy. XS (extra smooth) is 8 strand and is much quieter, ties good knots but tends to get tip wraps. The tip wraps are causes by the twist spinning reels impart on the line from reeling. Lately I have been letting the twist unravel out the back of the boat. That has cut down on the tip wraps. You'll get that from any brand on a spinning rod. Quote

Fishin' Fool Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 I recommend either 16 lb or 12 lb Sunline SX1. 2 Quote

Super User WRB Posted February 19, 2017 Super User Posted February 19, 2017 Don't need a coin toss, use Fins 12 lb WindTamer 8 carrier round braid, no dye color runs, no more wind knots. Why a heavy 3000 size reel for finesse presentations with braid? Tom 1 Quote

Why a heavy 3000 size reel for finesse presentations with braid? Tom Still debating if I want to run full floro. I've never been a fan of small reels I feel like I'm going to break them. I might be a little big on the reel but it's what feels good in my hand you know, considering using the braid to save money over running straight floro. Thanks everyone for there input, I will look into the suffix, and windtamer. Quote
