wisconsin heat Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 I am looking for something that I can take on backpacking and hiking trips. So something in 3/4 pieces is ideal, I like a 6'6" spinning rod. Just looking for some opinions if any of you have any experience with any brand or model of pack rod. Thanks! 1 Quote
bigturtle Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Daiwa Ardito. only available in 7' and 7'6", but a good rod.http://www.daiwa.com/us/contents/rods/ardito_tr/index.html You other option would be Fenwick Methods. You get 5 pieces (1 handle, 2 back section, 2 tip section) and can configure the pieces to whatever power/action as you see fit, basically giving you 4 different rods in 1.http://www.fenwickfishing.com/fenwick-travel-rods-fenwick-methods/fenwick-methods-spinning/1363875.html 1 Quote
Hogsticker Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 If you're willing to venture across the pond, options are unlimited. 1 Quote

Exactly, GraphiteLeader Bosco & Veloce, absolutely great rods, there's a bunch of MajorCraft rods that fit the bill, Tailwalks, so many unknown on this side brands. 1 Quote

For sure! The Poison Adrena, Zodias, Expride, and Daiwa Cronos all have 2 piece options. Daiwa Aussie market has several 3 piece Generation Black spinning models that look soooooo good. 1 Quote
Looking for the big one Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 I have the Fenwick Methods, highly recommend it. 2 Quote
SFL BassHunter Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 I have a Fenwick Methods which is fantastic! It is a 3 piece rod, but it comes with several options. It comes with Medium and Medium Heavy Power It also comes with Fast and Moderate Fast Action It also comes in a nice travel tube. So you get the tube, the bottom part of the rod, and 4 pieces that are interchangeable. It isn't the lightest rod in the world but it isn't the heaviest. It is very sensitive though. I was extremely impressed with it and it has become my main spinning outfit for freshwater. Quote
BrackishBassin Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I know this sounds weird, but has anyone managed to find a reel that matches well with the Fenwick Methods and could do double duty in salt/freshwater? That rod is such a weird color. Quote
RMax Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I have some 3 piece Browning Safari rods which are pretty good for the price. Quote

That rod is such a weird color. I am using a Okuma Helios on my Methods. But any reel with blue accents, or green accents should match up. Don't think you'll ever get a perfect matching color. But that's not really necessary. I think the Helios and the Methods look good together. They have a Helios for saltwater also which I think is blue instead of the lime green. 1 Quote
