reelnmn Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 For the last 5 months I've been meticulously planning a trip to Clear Lake in California. However, it seems with the recent closing of the lake and the upcoming rains that trip just isn't likely. So now I'm stuck 10 days out (leaving Feb 25) trying to come up with a new game plan. I live in Wyoming and will be trailering my boat (18' Procraft) to the destination. Looking for my best chance at a 10lb bass. All options are open within a days drive of Wyoming. I'm currently researching Lake Fork, Sam Rayburn, Toledo Bend, Choke Canyon, Falcon Lake, and a few others. However, first hand experience always seems to trump online research. I have zero experience at any of these locations and will be looking to hire a guide day 1 with at least 8 days of fishing afterwards. What experiences and recommendations do you all have? Where do you think my best chance at a 10 is? Thanks. Chris Quote
Clinton john Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 I say go to Toledo Bend there is a reason it was ranked as the nation's top bass lake two years in a row and that's because it produces so many ten pound plus bass a year. I think the count is like 35 so far this season and if you catch one over ten pounds youget a free replica when it gets officially weighted, tag and released alive back to the lake. Hope this info helps you sir, and if you do hit the Bend drop me a line we can hookup and try to both catch us one over ten pounds. Quote
awohlwend Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Never been myself but catching a magnum spotted bass in Northern California sounds pretty awesome to me. Who knows you might just break the record again. I think it may be tough to find good info on the lakes where the recent big ones have been caught. Seems like most try to keep it a secret to keep the fishing pressure down on those lakes but with all the records coming from up there lately its tough to keep things under wraps. Quote
