So I looked through the best reel thread and everything basically is bait casters so here we go...I'm looking to purchase a spinning reel to pair with a dobyns 742 champ extreme I just purchased Ild like to stay under the $200 mark. I've ran lews on my other spinning setups but would like to find something lighter this is going to be a shakey head / drop shot rod...I am really leaning towards a pflueger supreme xt at 149.99 are there any other reels out there I should check out before ultimately deciding on one. Also pflueger guys the supreme comes in a 25 and 30 series is this the stAndard sizing like most spinners are rated. The 25 ipt is like 24 and the 30 is 32 ipt quite a jump leading me to believe the 25 is much smaller. I really don't like a big spinning real at all. All my other reels are 2000 class size thanks in advance guys fishcamp I can read your mind already lol but I know u can chime in on the actual sizes

Look at the Daiwa Procyon spinning reel for around $159.  I would look at a 2500 or 3000.

As a Shimano fan, I'd be biting at the bit to get another

Stradic FK model. I prefer 1000 size, but a 2500 or 3000

is solid, too.

FWIW, the 1000 Stradic has 31 IPT...

For Daiwa, I'd shoot for a Ballistic EX.

Obviously Pflueger is a good choice, too.

Can't go wrong with any, I suppose :) And I'm shooting

at the top end of your range, eh. Ah well, it's what I'd do

with $200 to spend on a spinning reel...

In the 200 dollar range nothing touches the Stradic FK imo. 2500 and 3000 are the same frame just the 3000 has a slightly deeper spool. A 2500 Daiwa is the same as a 3000 Shimano and a 3000 Daiwa is the same as a 4000 Shimano so compare line capacity not model numbers.

One thing to keep in mind with Shimano is if you buy off ebay they will not warranty the product. You may save a few bucks but I would rather buy local and keep my warranty.

Ya I'm the same way Ild rather spend a little more and support my lLocal shops

ive had many aluminum stradics but after fishing with ci4s and then the ci4+ i cant go back to aluminum on anything but a Heavy powered rod.  i like Ci4+2500 for most applications. the JDM 2000 size for short/light rods.

you cant go wrong with either the FK or Ci4+ as far as performance IMO

I'm glad I haven't bought a CI4+ then, LOL.

My wife would be putting me out to pasture...

My FI, FJ, and FK Stradic 1000s will have to do

for now. Fortunatley I'm super happy with 'em!

Another vote for the Shimano Stradic FK. I've got the 2500 series and it's a game changer for me. I was always a Pfleuger guy, and I still do like what I have, but Shimano won me over in a heartbeat. It just feels right. Not to mention the multitude of technologies that work to male them as durable and long lasting as possible.

Check a DSG or F&S, they launched a clearance sale, my store has a Stradic for $100. Other than that, I've got a Team Lew's that is pretty dope.

ive own a FI, have had a FJ and know that the FK is only better. great reel for the money.

i think the lighter weight of ci4 reels could actually make some rods tip heavy depending on how you hold the rod.

i noticed in your posts that you like the smaller 1000 reels. i think either you use shorter and/or lighter rods or you hold the rod like i do with fingers north of the reel seat. if you do, the ci4+ will be dangerous. it brought several of my spinning rods off of the bench.

I have really wanted to take the dive on one of the FB Ci4 reels but I just cant seem to get them to balance right. Maybe this is just a sign I need a new rod too!!

Another vote for stradic fk, I've got the 2500 and it's the best spinning reel I've ever used.
