Bertmt Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Hi everyone, I live up in northwest Montana and I'm new to the group. Just wondering if any one else has any success up in this region with skirted jigs after the spawn. It seems to me like I can't get a lick on them after spawning is done I can throw just a craw style soft plastic in the same spot and catch fish. Does anyone have any insight they would like to share on the matter? Thanks. Quote

BigSkyBasser Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Hey Bert glad to see another Montanan on the forum! I have fished a fair amount with skirted jigs and found that they don't do that well at any point but especially post spawn. Most of the jig fisherman around here use a nonskirted football head with a hula grub to catch their fish in the spring and early summer. Quote
1simplemann Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 Myself and my partner have caught some using a a skirted jig. Him more than me but yes they work. It's seems to be situation specific. He tends to throw it more then me. Myself, most of the time I have a tube tied on. They catch everything that swims it seems. Quote
