I go to Briery Creek each year in late March early April time Frame, We go through Orange on are way. Did some research on Orange proved interesting,Seen there are some nice Largemouth have came out of this small lake. I was at Lake Anna this fall and was talking to a guide at Anna Point said he had caught a 13lb lm from Orange. Told me he fish's there early spring. We talked Briery he didn't like it Because of getting around , Ha had 20 glass boat 250 hp not a lot of good at Briery. Was just wondering if any one fish's there and care to talk a little fishing. I have a Daughter ,Son inlaw who live in Charlottesville so I  have a place close by to stay.. Thanks

Welcome aboard!

Never fished Orange, Anna or Briery.

But the latter two are on my list of fisheries

to hit in the near future.

Yes, in years gone by we vacationed on Orange Lake.

Lois & I stayed at a now-defunct fish camp which was then headed-up by Chet Westergard.

Since our stay however, Orange Lake was ravaged in 1991 by a devastating karst (sinkhole).

Orange today has gotten over the hump, but really never made a full recovery.

Out of curiosity, we revisited Orange Lake and boats were seen lying on the lake bottom

that were moored to high & dry pilings (saddest sight you'd ever see!).

Happily, Orange today is over the hump, but really never made a full recovery.

Though it was once a fabled trophy factory, the conversation today revolves around 3-lb crappies.

BTW, the lake record at Orange Lake was 17lb 4oz.

Not for nothing, Orange is the sister and tandem lake to Lake Lochlossa (separated by Cross Creek).

In the day of yore, Lake Lochlossa was 2nd only to the Withlacoohee River

in the Florida's production of trophy bass (Florida is where it all started, and where it shall all end).

You are lost Roger, the discussed Lake Orange is in Orange County Virginia near the town of Orange, Virginia. Near several Civil War battlegrounds.

Well, the topic specifies "Orange Lake" Wayne.

It is listed in the "Southeast" section and no state was designated.

Is there also an "Orange Lake" in Virginia, or would that be "Lake Orange"?

The lake has rental boats if I remember correctly.  Before I got into big boats I had a 2 man PVC Bass Hunter that I took to all of the local 9.9 or electric restricted lakes.  I have been on Orange and it held some nice fish and a lot of timber.  Also took that little boat to Briery and caught citation crappie.  I was the small lake guru...:D  I fished Crocket, Brittle, Mountain Run, Pelham, Orange, Curtis, and a bunch of un named ponds.  I was a guide on Anna and fish both the hot and cold side but never from the little boat.  Brittle now has snakehead in it and Crocket is a crappie paradise.  Once I went with 21 feet of boat and a 250hp motor, I sold the little boat.  Heading to the hot side of Anna on Monday.  I do miss the little boat at times.

Yes, Lake Orange has rental boats when the concession is open. May not this time of year.

Hunting Run does also but that lake is only open to fishing from the first Sat in March to about mid Oct and only Thurs-Sunday plus holidays.

The guy that runs the concession at Orange and rents boats is a pretty good guy (Darren, maybe?)

His Orange fishing reports to dgif were what got me interested in the lake.  I've fished it a half dozen times with little success.  I caught some small ones each time, and lost a decent one once.  But never boated anything larger than 2#.  Not to say that they aren't in there....just none for me.  The reports of walleyes in there might have been what kept my interest and kept me going back, but never caught one.

I much prefer Hunting Run, but the fact that it's half hour closer to me might be part of that.

Lake Brittle is also stocked with Walleye.  I've caught a limit there dragging curly tail grubs around the Christmas Tree structures.
