samwise2u Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Have a 2014 Xpress Striker 17 that has been leaking water for the past couple of months. Finally found the leak. On the transom/hull weld. I suspect fatigue caused by the "petal to the metal" hole shots I like. Took the boat back to the dealer and was told it is covered under warranty. Gonna be 2 days to 2 months on getting it back. 2 months? They said Xpress will tell them to fix locally (2 days) or send the boat to them (2 months). I traded in the Xpress and bought a Triton 18TX. Tell me no fishing for 2 months. 2 Quote
Super User WRB Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 Hope you waited 2 days for the local repair before selling a boat that leaks to some unexpecting buyer. Tom 1 Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted February 15, 2017 Super User Posted February 15, 2017 Congratulations samwise2u on your new Triton! Quote
samwise2u Posted February 15, 2017 Author Posted February 15, 2017 @WRB the dealer knows about the leak, I feel confident that they will get it fixed before selling. At least there is no reason not to fix the leak, the Xpress life time warranty on the hull should pay for everything and the dealer has their reputation to consider. @J._Bricker thanks, looking forward to having a bigger casting deck, more storage and not having to worry about water in the boat when taking my son and grandsons fishing. It caused the pucker factor to go high when I stepped off the casting deck into wet carpet. Not fun at all. 1 Quote
tander Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 That was an expensive fix but a great choice hope you enjoy it. Since the OP traded the boat, it is not his worry if the boat get fix, it's the dealer choice. Quote

In your original post, I figured you were on a good bite or expecting it to turn on any day now and the dealers timeline wasn't going to prevent you from capitalizing on it. Good luck to you and your boys, JB Quote
