Do factory shaved lips have any additional value over conventional lips?

Back in the old days when we shaved lips, it was to get a little extra depth out of our deep diving cranks. I would assume that is still a valid reason for doing so on modern baits.

You don't need a pic. Take a file and turn the round, leading edge on the lip into a knife edge. Make sure you keep it symmetrical. Test it in the water to fine tune the side to side balance.
