BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted February 14, 2017 BassResource.com Administrator Posted February 14, 2017 I'm not talking about brands here, but rather technique-specific rods (crankbait, flipping, etc). What will be the next rod you get? Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 A MH spinning rod to replace a broken one I used for single-hook swimbaits. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 New custom jerkbait rod built by ghoti using a Rainshadow Eternity2 blank from Batson. http://batsonenterprises.com/ Quote
Loomis13 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 A crankbait rod with a moderate fast action. Really can't stand the true moderate action I have. And also an all purpose MHF rod at the same time Quote
bigfruits Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 thinking about a dedicated frog rod and a dropshot rod. might hold off until later in the year after ive read reviews on some new rods that are hitting the market in the next few months. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted February 14, 2017 Global Moderator Posted February 14, 2017 Punch rod with a more moderate action than the ex fast one I'm useing now. Mike Quote
GreenGhostMan Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Just placed an order for a new swim jig/chatterbait/spinnerbait rod less than 15 minutes ago. 7'2" MH-Reg Daiwa Tatula. Probably won't be buying another rod for a while, but I'm thinking the next one could be a short (6'6" to 6'10") medium moderate for jerkbaits. Or another 6'10" MH Daiwa Tatula... such a versatile, work horse rod. Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 My next rod is going to be a medium heavy, fast 7' rod to throw lipless cranks. Probably going to go with a Fenwick HMG70MH-FC. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 damiki rig rod.... 5 Quote
Hawkeye21 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Looks like I just found a connection for getting a deal on an Abu Garcia Revo SX baitcast so it looks like I'll also be getting myself a new casting rod. Most likely a 7' MHF rod. Quote
WPCfishing Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 IKE 70-5 power rod. I broke mine....... Great rod by the way. 3/8-5/8 Spinner baits, lipliss cranks, square bills, swim jigs... Quote

I'm sure z-man and other soft plastic companies are drawing up molds for damiki specific flukes as we speak. 1 Quote
jimf Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Spinnerbait rod. The one I use is fine for most occasions, but it's a little wimpy in the butt for cover. Which is what I tell myself to justify buying a new rod that I really don't need. Probably a St. Croix Avid, maybe a 7' MH/F. Or maybe I should treat myself to a Legend because I think I deserve it, they have a 6'8" MH/F and I like shorter rods. So, there is my reason for the Legend. 2 Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 I thought I might need a float & fly rig, but upon further inspection I have a couple of float & fly rods . . . new reel might be nice . . . .I could stand to upgrade my half ounce & up football jig rod . .. . I get in that situation maybe once or twice a year so how much of a priority is that? I got a half dozen of the big honker Strike King square bills last month at Academy close outs - so I've got to decide on a rod to throw those on. There are several candidates already in the arsenal, but a new rod isn't out of the question. I'd like a lighter & stouter Bubba Drop Shot rod, but I like the telescopic factor of the 7'5" Kistler rod that I currently use for that situation. So the real answer is I don't know. If I go to Rogers for their spring sale and they have Fenwick AETOS rods on sale for $100 a hit like they did last year, I'd like to get a couple more jig rods just like the 2 I already have. I'm pretty certain that once or twice this spring some rod will scream out to me "BUY ME!!" and I will be unable to resist. Quote
Smelter96 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 St.Croix Bass X 6'8" m/ef for the smaller stuff 2 Quote
PatrickKnight Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 A medium power spinning rod with more flex than a traditional fast but not to the level of a moderate. Quote
DubyaDee Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Next up is a custom tube jig rod. I'm thinking 7'6" medium or med/light fast. Quote
Bryant Blackmon Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Megabass destroyer criffhanger for the lighter stuff Quote

Spiral wrapped Recoils, a rear grip and butt grip just large enough to be useful. I'm delivering it Monday. The rod is schweeeet. If Kent hadn't already paid for it, I'd keep it. LOL This may very well be the next rod I build for myself. 2 Quote

Super User MIbassyaker Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 I believe my next rod will be a two-piece casting rod of some sort that I can stow away easily for travel as an all-purpose casting setup to complement a couple of 2-piece spinning setups I currently have. The M or MH St. Croix Premier looks about right, but I haven't shopped around much. Quote

Super User .ghoti. Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 Built on the new Rainshadow Eternity2 blank, the unpainted version. Medium power, fast action, 6'8", 1.7 ounce weight blank. Batson calls this a medium. It has a 10-17lb line rating, and 1/4-3/4oz lure rating; the classic Loomis medium-heavy power ratings. In hand, I'd call it a medium. As built weight is 3.5oz, and about 90% of the added weight is on the back end. Ill put put up some pics after it's delivered to Kent. It ain't right if he doesn't get to see it first. 1 Quote
