Super User ChrisD46 Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 As the title suggests - what are your favorite current lipless crank baits as well as top colors ? ... I'm planning a trip to Central Florida in the near future and have little experience with this techniques as the lakes I fish are highland reservoirs with little grass ... Thanks in advance ! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 14, 2017 Global Moderator Posted February 14, 2017 I know everyone is tired of seeing it, but my gently used tungsten 2 tap is currently my favorite. I'm also a big fan of the Xcaliber (now Booyah), lipless baits. I'd probably be looking for some gold ones if I was headed to Florida. 7 Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 Call me stubborn but I don't need new lipless cranks, still doing fine with the old tried and true Rat L-Trap, throw in the ocassional Bayou Boogie and every now and then a plain Rattlin Rap. 3 Quote
jbw252 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Strike King RES, 1/2 ounce, Sexy Shad or one of the chrome variants. Both the 2-taps & regulars are great fish catching lures. 2 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 I'm a fan of all different kinds for different reasons but if I had to choose it would be the Xcalibur one knockers which is now Booyah and I have used them since they changed brands so I don't know if they are the same. kcdinkerz Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Lucky craft lvrto or just a strike king red eye. Most of the time I'm throwing blue and chrome. Quote
Guest Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Spro aruko shads red eye shads the super spot 1 Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted February 14, 2017 Author Super User Posted February 14, 2017 Quite a few to look into - the Live Target Vibration Trap in Gold Shiner will be on my short list to investigate as well (nice detail) . The Bill Lewis Rat - L Trap , Booyah One Knocker and the Strike King RES have a ton of fans ... Probably no reason to spend $$ on a lipless trap bait with this much love ! Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 Red Eye Shad, I like Chili craw in early spring, then as the water clears, I switch to Japanese shad on sunny days or albino craw on cloudy days. The Booyah (old excaliber) baits are a distant second....I fish them about 10% of the time when I am throwing a lipless bait. I have a few others like the Berkley warpig that's seen some use, and I have some of the new Storm Arashi lipless baits to fart around with next year. Quote
Super User Spankey Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 I throw a few red versions of the RES but for the most part I'm a Rat-L-Trap guy. Quote
ArmyBassin' Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Lunkerhunt in blue/silver. On a sunny day in clear water the bass love grabbing ahold of it! Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 When I lived in Florida, I was piled with requests for the SPRO Aruku Shad (all sizes) in the color Old Glory. I knew tournament guys that didn't buy any other color or maker. The Aruku Shad stands on it's nose when at rest and doesn't hang up as much. My personal favorite on smallmouth in Lake St Clair in the spring is the Cell Mate color. 1 Quote
LBASS01 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 I really love the Yo-Zuri line of lipless crankbaits! I caught a lot of nice ones on them last year, especially during the pre-spawn. Anything in Red, or silver with some blue! Quote
Super User scaleface Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 The Red Eye Shad fits my style of fishing the best. If there are other lipless baits that shimmy on the fall , someone let me know . 2 Quote

thebillsman Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 I just bought two black back chrome RES's and two Banshee's in the simple shad color. Cannot for the life of me tell the difference. 2 Quote
Jaderose Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 I like the Xcaliburs and still have a bunch. but I also have a ton of Rat-L-Traps and Cordell. Right now, my favorite is this......Cotton Cordell Super Spot in Royal Shad. 4 Quote
blckshirt98 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Find the brand/color that gives you the most confidence and that'll be the best one for you! If 20 people respond to this thread you'll probably get 20 different answers whether it's brand or color. I personally have more confidence with the tighter water Rat-L-Trap in colder water, and the LuckyCraft LV series in warmer, though I did grab a few Red Eye Shad's on sale that I'll try because it's a less painful hit on the wallet if I get hung up. wdp Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Redeye. Got others, but use Redeye more than 90% of time. Quote

This one is part of the set of 9 boxes that came with the Lund Pro-V bass's Pop-Up Tackle System - Kind of generic - Mid-range quality but gets the job done. They are 3700 size. btw - I didn't throw up a pic but there's another one of these sporting a load of 3/4 RES waiting for ice out. A-Jay 1 Quote
