MikeWright Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 These next couple of months these are the only baits I will wish. The lure won't be replaced and I won't make a new box until every lure has caught a fish. Last year I bought so much stuff and never got wet. This year I'm going to dissect my tackle. 2 Baby Pad Crashers I think? I don't know...seems like some green one and bullfrog Jitterbug Rebel Popr (I've caught 1 on this, dink) Whopper Plopper Vision 110..some shad with purple back Jointed original Rapala Floater..silver/black back Berkley Cutter 90+SP..some blue gill print/orange belly Rat-l-trap..white/silver back and orange craw Xcite baits Squarebill..some blue gill print SK 1.5 Squarebill ..some bright orange red craw and SS 1 Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 Who said you purchase tackle to catch fish ? you only need a handful of lures to fish, the rest of your purchases are because it's fun to hoard tons of s*t that ain't never gonna touch the water. 5 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 Good luck with that . Quote
Kidflex Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Stay strong! Sometimes being hard headed and fishing with lures that arent producing while other lures are producing doesnt pay out. But on the other hand I feel your pain and have hundreds of lures that haven't been wet. I do like the challenge of using a new lure and learning how to use it properly and effectively and then applying that skill and knowledge to the appropriate time and situation. Your situations shouldn't be that bad since all those lures are proven fish catchers Quote
d-camarena Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Add some keitechs, senkos, flukes and jigs and you should be alright Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 Well, several years ago I set a goal of fishing everything I own, but what about all the new stuff I "had to have"? Did not achieve that objective and I don't have that target in mind anymore. As Raul said " the rest of your purchases are because it's fun to hoard tons of s*t that ain't never gonna touch the water." Quote
MikeWright Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 I think my most troubling lures are going to be the jerkbait and square bills I really want to use the jointed rapala and that bluegill Squarebill but have no idea how to fish either of them Quote
Super User scaleface Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 Too bad the Helicopter lure is not listed . Quote
Oklahoma Mike Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Don't you get it, man? WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT CAN'T BE DONE! Now delete this thread before the other members' wives see it, and never speak of this again. 3 Quote

Fortunately for me when my wife to be and I met I already had an obscene amount of tackle so it's easy to "hide" the new stuff. 2 Quote

I'll buy the whole box....how much!!!!!??? Lol. I'll probably only use half of it at best but it looks great in my cellar Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 A day or two of fishing (although you might have to wait till summer for those topwaters) and you should be back to buying more tackle you don't really need. Those booyah frogs won't even last half an hour, if that. Quote
kcdinkerz Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Catch some tree bass, you'll be buy new lures soon lol. Those are some good colors you shouldn't have any problems. Quote
MikeWright Posted February 15, 2017 Author Posted February 15, 2017 @Kidflex I chose colors and lures that are already proven to make this a little easier on me. @IndianaFinesse I live in central Texas so top waters are always an option to throw @Deeare What's the offer?!! On a serious note though, half is better than what ive done...I haven't thrown 90% of these!! Does anybody have advise on how to retrieve the Rapala Original Floater and how can I keep the 110 from diving down so low when I jerk it...I've always come back with a bunch of grass, has to be something I can change on the retrieve right? And the Squarebill are always a steady retrieve, just a change in how fast I bring it through the water right? 1 Quote

Try using upward twitches instead of downward, and if you're still hooking weeds, upsize the line to around 12-14 pound mono. Quote
