I do not own a Falcon rod. Do know they are a quality rod made in the USA. The highest percentage of my rods are St. Croix that I've been very satisfied with them.

At the tackle shop I found (2) Falcon Rods that I've seem to have fallen in love with. Feel, lengths, tip speeds, split handles and grips I like.

*BMS-7M medium,  moderate, 7 ft., 8-17 lb., 1/4 to 1/2 lure wt. (Crankbait Spinning)

*BMC-76MH med. hvy., mod. fast, 12 - 25 lb., 3/8 to 3/4 lure wt. (Cranker II Casting)

I do not own a rod with a Micro Guide setup on it. The guide system has more guides than what I'm use to in those lengths and naturally smaller. I'm for the most part a mono user (quality mono) and I use quality reels for the most part or a least I think I do.

Are these Micro Guide rods set up for braid primarily? Will quality mono work well with them? A bit confused as to why the high guide count. Must be to take the whip out of the rod under pressure. Not sure. Your thoughts on the Micro Guides is greatly appreciated.

I run a bunch of rods with micro guides.  My Falcon Bucoo is a micro rod, it is the Trap Caster.  it handles traps square bills small to mid sized cranks and even can slow roll a big spinnerbait.  The theory with micro guides is since they weigh less than a larger guide then they can add more of them. This is supposed to control the line (any line including your mono)and thus if it runs straighter the line will run faster resulting a longer cast. Itis also supposed to stop line from contacting the blank under fishing conditions.  They claim some better sensitivity. Not sure I by any of the hype, but I have no bads words to say about micro guides except my 50+ year old eyes have to work a little harder to string it up LOL

I think you will like those rods.

Both of my Villian 2.0 rods have micro guides. I use one exclusively with 65lb braid. The other 14lb CX or

50lb braid. Line makes no difference at all. I like them for certain types of fishing. Can't use a leader which I don't bother with any longer. I have enough rods to set up for tasks using the correct line. I can't stand leader knots!

Guys thanks for the reply. I'm gonna go for one or both. I know I can get them at a decent price after haggling some. The 7 ft. Cranker spin Rod is a nice rod. The 7 1/2 casting Rod feels fantastic. I'm always ready to be eyeing St. Croix stuff that I never give anything else a chance. I'll try mono on them at first. I'll switch to braid if I have to. Braid will be something else new to me also. I've fished mono/fluoro my whole life.

Braid is the cats meow.. You're going to love it. Power Pro is very popular.. I like it the best out of the many I tried. I use 40# to 80# depending on where I'm fishing. It's all about diameter rather than weight. I do not use spinning reels for anything. Can't stand them.

I would think there are more micro guides because they are lower to the rod blank and more are needed to keep the line off the blank.

I have a bucoo trapcaster with micro guides. It's spooled with 10 pound izorline. The guides are weaker than normal sized guides, but that's to be expected. It's a very versatile rod, topwater, traps, spinnerbaits...

Just an FYI. With the help from a BR member informing me that Wally World was clearancing out Falcon Rods I was able to get the BMS-7M 7 ft. Cranker Spin Rod for $44.00. They had it down to $79.00 but showed the manager the text he sent me that showed his purchase of the same Rod and he honored it. This is probably the best fishing deal I've ever gotten on a quality item in my life. I'll try the braid and Fluor leaders with this set up. This will be my first use of braid. Will order up a new Sahara or Symetre for it. This will become my 1.0/1.5 Strike King setup.

I picked up one of these Falcon rods a bunch of months back.  A nice fast rod.   The guides feel a bit weird at first but they work great with my flouro.  I prefer it to a lot of my other more expensive rods.

I just today picked up a Falcon 6'8" MH/MF at Walmart for $25.00. It was labeled $44.00 but a bargain hunter page I visit said $25.00. I asked, the guy scanned, i bought. There is still quite a bit of ice on the lakes here so it will be a while before I can try it out.

$44.00 and I’m happy with it. I don’t fish with it exclusively but do like it. I put a Nasci on it. That year at the sportsman show the factory was selling them at 20% off at show. Was a no brained to put that on it.

At $25.00 that great. Have fun and good luck. I can’t find a lot of rod choices in my area. Always a job trying to find what I want. Sucks but I usually make out ok.

I love micro guides, they're light and I can cast my braid to leader line no problem. (FG Knot) You can cast any type of line with micro guides, does better with smaller diameter line.

I feel like a rod with micro guides is more sensitive than a rod with regular guides.

There are more guides with micro guides because the line is closer to the blank. It helps to maintain that line of flow.

I have nothing bad to say about Falcon, I love with coastal xg for my saltwater applications.

I've had the Bucco Trap Caster with the micro guides for a few years now.  It works great as my dedicated lipless crank rod.  I throw mono on it, from 14 to 20 depending on what mono is on sale.  Anyway, I've never fished with in chilly early spring conditions.  I've always wondered it you would have more guides icing up issues with the micro guides than you would with the regular guides.  Back when I fished the Ozark BFL's, that first and maybe the second tournament of the year, I'd go through most of a can of Reel Magic, spraying it on guides to keep the ice off.

These days, if it is that chilly, I'm just not going.
