chris55552 Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Hey guys... What would be a great rod for Carolina Rigged soft plastics, fishing deeper water with Flurocarbon line. Looking for a rod that provides pretty good bottom contact sensitivity. Targeting deeper bass in 15 to 30ft water. What would be a good brand, length, and action? Quote

Super User webertime Posted February 13, 2017 Super User Posted February 13, 2017 Lamiglas or Dobyns "735" rods in whatever model your budget is. I use both with 20b Abrazx and 1/2-1oz weights. You want a tip on the slower end of "fast". Quote
bigfruits Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I like a longer rod that does not have a soft tip for dragging c-rigs and football jigs. What price range are you looking at? Are you using FC as the main line? Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted February 13, 2017 Super User Posted February 13, 2017 I use a m jig rod, it's a 7'2" HF Tatula. It works well and is pretty sensitive. I fish 40lb braid to a leader for most of my C-rigging. Usually I'm fishing 10inch curly tail worms. If I was going to get a rod specifically for C-rigging I'd get a longer one but I won't be doing that anytime soon. Quote
chris55552 Posted February 13, 2017 Author Posted February 13, 2017 100-200$ range.... And yes FC as main line. Ive noticed using longer heavier action rods, really make fishing deeper water a little easier. Quote
Super User webertime Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 Go big then! (I got an 8ft Phenix Recon for the coming season to try). http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Zillion_JDM_Casting_Rods/descpage-JDZ.html 8ft Heavy Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 I've used just about every brand rod looking for the perfect fb jig rod and Carolina rig rod. For a Carolina rig, a Powell max3d 775 is as good as you'll find in that price range. It handles 1/2 oz to 1 oz rigs perfectly. 1 Quote
