My dad and I have been talking a lot about big soft plastic swimbaits recently, and he said ever since he switched to a line-through with a treble, his hook-up ratio is virtually 100%. Does anyone here swear by them or swear against them?

Landing ratio is typically better with a line thru because the bait slides away from the hook and gives the fish less leverage to toss the bait.

I have a much better hookup and landing ratio with line thru baits than I do other soft swimbaits.

Fish a 316 Rising Son and you'll be in love.

Mickey is an interesting person and his line thru design is still going strong after 15+ years with the Mission Fish. Got burned by the Top Dawg, it was a dog:wub:. If you say his version of the Eagle lure wake bait is good, I will take your word for it.

There are similarities between the Son and some other baits (osprey) but the line thru weighting system in the RS is about as good as it gets.

"Interesting" is a good way to describe him. He definitely has a different personality.

Have you met Mickey? Definately not taking knocking him.

I am a fan of most of the 3:16 line of swimbaits and his Top Dawg was a dud and talked into buying a few, he no longer makes it.

Eagle was the first line through soft swimbait and Osprey followed, believe it's the same lure with different name. You had to boil the eagle and stretch the tail end to get it to swim right and was a giant gum ball in the basses mouth, hard to get a good hook set.

The Rising Sun looks good and will give it some time on the water.
