primetime Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Really depends but for punching really tight with braid, for Swimbaits around cover, enough drag pressure where I wont bend hooks, lose fish in cover. I am always adjusting my drags all day long based on cover & type of line etc. If you have 65lb braid fishing frogs in heavy cover, You should not have any drag until you get the fish close to the boat and it is still green, if you have open water you "May" choose to lighten the drag depending on situation. Tough question but If I am using treble hooks, I use as much drag I can get away with, same with all fishing I guess, I never try to horse a fish in, I would rather go in after it. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted February 12, 2017 Super User Posted February 12, 2017 When I am punching I have the drag so that it is pretty tight. When I'm pulling a bass up through the vegetation I tend to pick up quite a bit of extra weight. 1 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted February 13, 2017 Super User Posted February 13, 2017 Work out for at least 3 weeks, taper down routine, carbo load the night before and then turn the star as far as humanly possible, then tighten another half turn with pliers. 3 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 14, 2017 Global Moderator Posted February 14, 2017 The reel I use for punching is listed as having 11lb max drag. I lock it down and never had any issues. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted February 14, 2017 Global Moderator Posted February 14, 2017 Same as my frog set up...As long as I can lock it down, it doesnt matter. Mike 1 Quote
