Kevin Sanchez Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 I was recently given a bass raider 10e by my dad. I have fished out of it many times before it was given to me. I'm in the process of "rigging" it out to actually make it a functional fishing boat. I've already put rubber bungee cord rod holders, cup holders, rope tie downs,a Scotty anchor line holder, battery tray and added 7" swivel pedestal to the seat. I plan to add a 3/4" plywood subfloor and wrap it in grey outdoor carpet as well as a couple cargo nets. I purchased a 50 lb thrust Minnkota trolling motor off of Craigslist too. I also plan on buying a depth finder as well. In the past I've always had the trolling motor at the rear of the boat. I've read some forms that it handles much better at the on the front when a rudder is attached to the back for more control. I cannot find a rudder for this boat anywhere online or in the stores. Is there a easy way to make a rudder? Thank you for your help and advice! Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 11, 2017 Super User Posted February 11, 2017 Welcome aboard, Kevin! Sounds like you're well on your way to setting up a fine fishing machine. As for trolling motor, you may enjoy a bow mount (front) especially if you get one with foot control. Would keep your hands relatively free to fish and guide the boat with full view of the territory in front of you. As for rudders, you may be able to buy one for a kayak and DIY mount it. But I'm not aware of any specifically for Bass Raiders. Quote
Chowderhead Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Welcome to the forum. There is a detailed thread about the 10e - lots of great info. If I recall correctly, there is a fair amount of discussion about homemade rudders in the thread. 1 Quote
Kevin Sanchez Posted February 11, 2017 Author Posted February 11, 2017 Thank y'all very much for the help thus far. I have looked at the Bigfoot foot pad that you splice into the wiring for trolling motor. Yes I think I've decided to go with bow mount that way I can fish like in a big boat. I tried to upload pictures of progress so far but says files are too large. Any other help will be greatly appreciated. Quote
