Sittin there reelin em in Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 What do you think about this bait? Is it worth the investment? Are they catching fish this time of year? Those kind of things are what I'm looking for. Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Alongside the rattle trap it's my favorite lipless rattlebait. And the answer to the next to two questions are yes and yes. 1 Quote
jr231 Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 It is the most praised lipless crankbait on these forums ..By far. 1 Quote
Dypsis Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 I caught a lot of fish on the Tungsten 2 Tap last year. Quote
Scarborough817 Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 i like it but i'm also a big fan of the xcalibur xrk75 (if you can find them) Quote
lo n slo Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 love me some 1/2oz Delta Craw and Gold/Black back Quote
jr231 Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 @MassBassin508 one of many. Searching red eye shad in the fishing tackle will bring up more hits than anybody would care to read. 1 Quote
CTBassin860 Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Need to grab a gold/black back still.The 5 for 10 bucks cordell super spots going on sale at BPS may do it though.Grab 2 gold/black and 3 chrome/blue 1 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 9, 2017 Super User Posted February 9, 2017 I fished Rat-L-Traps exclusively for years until the Red Eye Shad burst onto the scene. Since then, I have switched to Red Eye Shad's almost exclusively, with a brief forays with other brands. Now that SK has silent, and knocking Red Eye Shad's they have eliminated my need to try other brands until they build a better mouse trap. I have complete confidence in the RES, and it's produced many many big fish for me. 4 Quote
wdp Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 RES the lipless crank I throw 95% of the time. It just flat out catches fish. 1 Quote
RB 77 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 They're good and catch fish. Definitely worth the investment. Now would be a good time to fish them with a yo-yo retrieve. These and the LV 500 are my go-to's. Quote
JustinJ Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 they cast better than the bill lewis and they flat out catch fish 1 Quote
Super User Spankey Posted February 10, 2017 Super User Posted February 10, 2017 I think they are a quality bait. I fish a few SK patterns that are red. Been using red a bit more as of lately, had no confidence in it at all at one time. But I'm a creature of habit and find it tough to think anything is better than the Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap. I feel the Rattling Spots are very productive. I have a nice selection of these baits but find chrome w/ black back, chrome / blue back, gold w/ black back, and bone w/ orange belly are the most productive for me. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted February 10, 2017 Super User Posted February 10, 2017 I like to fish them deep . My largest bass this past year was with a silent chrome /blue back 20 foot down . I was tearing up a school of dinks then backed off to the dropoff, a couple of feet deeper . . 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 11, 2017 Global Moderator Posted February 11, 2017 The Tungsten 2 Tap has been one of my producing baits all winter and it continued to be Thursday. 6 Quote

Guys, there can be no better endorsement for a bait's potential than a picture of one that is in this condition. 1 Quote
primetime Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 The Red Eye Shad is a great lipless crank, especially when you kill it and let it flutter to the bottom. It also handles grass well, and they have great color patterns, come with good hooks, and now offer the 2 tap version which is a good change up as pictured above, I usually will switch to a One Knocker from Xcalibur or Bill Lewis after working an area with a rattle bait, but I want to get a 2 tap since Pound for pound the RES is easily one of the best lipless baits. I would also grab some Cordell Spots as mentioned above since they are great when worked shallow over grass and are inexpensive. They work great however, The other is the Spro Aruku Shad which will handle weeds really good and also stands on the bottom but I think many baits do that now, I probablly use those 3 the most, can't go wrong with Strike King lures or any main brand really. Key is having goo hooks which is why the RES is a great value. Quote

Super User Senko lover Posted February 11, 2017 Super User Posted February 11, 2017 The RES is hands down the best lipless I've ever used, I don't throw anything else these days. Quote

RES has accounted for at least 50% of every State citation size SMB I've caught and an obscene percentage of the 7lb plus LMB I've been able to put in a net. A-Jay 2 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted February 11, 2017 Super User Posted February 11, 2017 This is after two schools of fish , i found. Its the silent model but it has a loose weight so it has a light rattle . There's also the largest bass I caught last year with that lure hanging from his mouth . 3 Quote
