dave Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I am not a conspiracy theorist in the least bit but, I've always wondered about giving my DNA. I am curious about my ancestry though. Quote

Or, have DNA in some sort of accessible registry and have the chance, however remote, of some child support seekers....or have it mishandled in any way with regards to some LE activities....No. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, by any means....but I am a lot more guarded about my privacy than today's generation. 1 Quote

The army has me in their (regularly unsecured) database, so I'm not too worried about who else would have it... of course the way I spread my "dna samples" around in my twenties, I'm kinda surprised that I only have one offsprung. 1 Quote

Yep, I put stuff like this along the lines of "if your social security number was a dollar amount, how much money would you have" type of question!! 1 Quote
Buckeye Ron Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 My dad's family history goes back to Great Britain,Scotland if I remember right. My mom's family came over from Italy. I always wanted to do one of those DNA tests but couldn't figure out if they were on the up and up or not. Quote
Super User webertime Posted February 12, 2017 Super User Posted February 12, 2017 I'm a direct descendant of Charlemagne and William the Conqueror. English, Dutch, German. Quote
Super User Gundog Posted February 12, 2017 Super User Posted February 12, 2017 I'm 1/3 angry, 1/7 confused why I answer questions like this, 32% sure my shoe size is also my IQ and about 50 pounds overweight. I'm also related to my mother but my father is only related to my mother by marriage. Also my blood type is Oreo positive. 3 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted February 12, 2017 Super User Posted February 12, 2017 No DNA test, but a family member traced by Dad's family back to England. My Mom traced her family back to Germany. I guess that is why they argued a lot. Quote
Deeare Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 23% bass. 32% bluefin tuna. 18% pickerel 12% bluegill 37% snapping turtle 18% raccoon. Not sure if I should ask for my money back on my dna test. 1 Quote

Super User Columbia Craw Posted February 14, 2017 Super User Posted February 14, 2017 I'm proud of my ancestry. I was able to follow my grandfather on my mother's side back to 1547, all English. My grandmother was a bit more difficult but it's starts in a small village in Norway. My Dad's side was easy with a name like McDougal in his mother's side. My grandfather was given up by his parents in the 1880's in London. Any records from the Bernardo School for boys were destroyed during the Blitz in 1944. I've made sure my kids all know our history. Epithelial swab anyone ? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 14, 2017 Global Moderator Posted February 14, 2017 No idea what percentage of each I am, but according to my grandparents I'm Irish, German, and Swedish, which means I have blonde hair, blue eyes, and I get a sunburn if the moon is too bright. 1 Quote

Super User Way2slow Posted February 15, 2017 Super User Posted February 15, 2017 What is my TRUE heritage? 100% pure heterosexual, southern redneck and dam proud of it. It chaps my butt the way they have desecrated the confederate flag to what it is today. I remember when I used to be able to use it to show I was proud to be a southerner. Now, the hate groups have symbolized it into something it never was, and it’s more racially symbolic than the Swastika. I can still use Dixie from my ring tone though. My wife fussed about that so much I used the Star Spangled Banner for hers when calling me. 2 Quote

CybrSlydr Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 23andme says they're currently reading my DNA on their chip - allegedly this is the longest part of the process, so this could take a bit. Very anxious to see what I am. I'm pretty sure I know most, but I'm still quite curious. Quote

Interesting ~ Growing up in Boston, my Mass-hole lines run true & deep. We could be brothers from another mother .. .. .. .. .. . .. .. .. .. .. If you ever have the over whelming urge to launch a shoulder-fired laser guided missile at someone doing 10 mph less than the posted speed limit in the left hand lane - there is a distinct likely hood.
