Most anglers would say to use braid or mono. Fluorocarbon sinks and can make it very difficult to walk the dog with the line underwater. I prefer braid just for the low stretch in case you get a bite on a long cast.

I will say I like to use flouro for poppers at times. As the flouro sinks, whenever I "pop-it" the bait will go under water and I have gotten strikes when the bait does this. The Chug Bug is my favorite for this technique.

I'm sure there are many other opinions out there tho on the topic. Good luck!

I prefer braid for walking baits - when using casting & spinning gear.

Allows for long bomb casts if needed, bait works / walks well and hook sets seem solid.

there you have it, consensus is very clear.....  either braid OR mono OR copolymer!!!!

the only thing you'll get any to agree on here is that the one line you DO NOT want to use is fluorocarbon.
