Favorite colors? 1/2 or 3/4 oz? Yo-yo or rip it?? Or do you prefer something like the Bill Lewis or Rapala? Then if your feeling frisky, what gear are you fishing it on? Need to talk about something other than this Shimano vs this Daiwa,or how many NRX should I buy for skipping icebergs. You get the point.

They have become one of my top producing lures last year . I use shad colors and chrome . I'll get some chartreuse this season . I use the 1/2 ounce and the smaller one . I dont have a 3/4 ounce yet but will have a few before summer . My most productive retrieve is lift and drop like a worm, out on the points and flats .

Fished it on clear water and caught 6 different species on it mostly chucking and winding it back around reed beds over a week. Really didn't need anything fancy retrieve wise. Orange craw and bluegill were the colors used and it was the 1/2 ounce model.

Tried the the rippin rap, which caught fish, just not as many, it was a streaky bait and not consistent like the RES.

Gold sexy shad is just awesome for me in most water conditions.

Chart belly craw has worked in cloudy low-vis conditions.

SOOOO many great colors!

Green Shad

Chartreuse Sexy Shad

Summer Sexy Shad

Chili Craw

9 times out of 10, i'm fishing the 1/2.  My favorite retrieve is "wind-wind-wind-pause".  Like it on mono in open water or braid around veggies.

Do it.  Do it.

Huge RES fan right here - 1/2 , 3/4 in both silent & the standard rattlers - and do Not overlook the New 2-Tap.

As for colors - it varies wildly depending on water color & depth I'm fishing as well as sun, clouds, and overall light penetration.

My LMB PB (an 11-11) came on a 3/4 Sexy Shad.

btw - change out & up size those hooks.

Same here with 1/2 ounce although I picked up a few 3/4 oz tungsten 2-taps last fall and did well. I have many colors and they're all good. Just pick one and start fishing. As for retrieve all that you listed, I also like to fish it like a spoon when bass are busting on shad schools. I just throw it in the middle and let it shimmy to the bottom.

Both the standard and 2 Tap have been great for me the last couple years. The 2 tap in chrome black back especially. I fish mine on a 7' MH/F 6.2:1 with 15lb big game.

1/2 ounce, Sexy Shad or one of the chrome variants.  Both the 2-taps & regulars are great fish catching lures.

I fish both the 1/2 and 3/4 oz in ponds in shallow water.  Have had the best success in cool late fall weather.

The 3/4 might seem like overkill, but it has caught me some of my biggest pond fish in 3-4 ft water, when just making long casts and burning it back to the bank, trying to pass over small breaks and vegetation.  Seems to me in that condition burning a 1/2 or 3/4 oz is a "big fish magnet" relatively speaking.  Not surprisingly, it often comes back with a fistful of junk, but when it comes back with a bass on it, its usually a good one.

Have also had success in ponds chucking the 1/2 oz into relatively deep pockets (where I know they exit) and where there are indentations in the shoreline, letting it fall and flutter for a second, and then ripping it out of the pocket.  Often gets bit on the fall.

On the 1/2  you may want to consider that #4 on the back and a #2 on the front.

This one is the particular one that has been so good for me. It's a 2 tap.

Wow, that thing looks like it's been threw the hell of a pikes toothy mouth more than once.:thumbsup1:.  BTW, I love it when a bait gets beat up like that.  Each scratch and scrape on the bait has a story to tell.

You pretty much have to let the bass tell you what they want retrieve wise. I mostly use a stop and go retrieve with a twitch thrown in here and there, or a yo yo type retrieve. In warm water for active fish, burning it works really well. I use primarily the 1/4 ounce and 1/2 ounce sizes. Green Gizzard Shad, Chrome Black, Chili Craw, Bluegill, Firetiger, and Chartreuse Sexy Shad are my go to colors.

Got quite few of these still unopened in 1/4 and 1/2 oz. I don't fish anywhere deep enough to need a 3/4 oz. Still haven't tried the 2 tap, but thinking about getting 1 or a dozen.

Negative. Nothing replaces the beat up baits that have that mojo.

I try to mix up my retrieves, but I have found that the fish have a seasonal preference. In the spring a steady retrieve, the summer calls for yo-yo, or ripping them free of weeds and in the early fall, they like it stroked.  This bait really produces on the fall, so even when they want a steady retrieve, I'll occasionally pause it.  The 1/2oz. is a good size,
