Hey everyone so I've never really fished the hot side of lake Anna before. My friend has a high school event over there and needed a captain. Any suggestions this time of year? As I said I have never fished over there before. Any tips help would like to put him on some fish!

"this time of year" does not apply. I was there a couple of weekends ago and the water temp was mid 60's to lower 70's.

Docks and rocks

Oh wow that's crazy!!!!!! Thanks for the info

You will freeze your fanny while the water temps are in the 60's.

So many places to fish.

Moving baits and bottom baits may be your weapon of choice.

Go out and have some fun this winter.

Was out Sunday bite is tough right now.  Shakeyhead, dropshot are your friend.  Rip rap will usually hold some fish.  Pool 1 will be the warmest with pool 3 being the coldest.  I caught them on plastics and cranks, rip rap and brushpiles.

Heading to Lake Anna to fish the hot side at the end of March for a few days. Wanted to see if any of you guys had some tips/suggestions for fishing the hot side. This will be my second trip to Anna. Last year we fished the hot side around the same time of year and did OK. Mostly on fluke type baits and various plastics around cover and spinnerbaits and cranks around the riprap. No real method or pattern to our fishing last year, but now that I'm more familiar with the hot side of Anna I'd like to target some more specific areas and have at least a little bit of a game plan. I'm sure we overlooked some areas last year, but it was my first time fishing a large lake like Anna and it was a bit overwhelming. I had pretty good luck with a Keitech Swing Impact FAT this past year on my local river chasing smallmouth. Going to give the larger size (3.8" & 4.3") a go this year on Anna. How is the topwater bite on the hot side that time of year? Any tips/hints on fishing the hot side you guys are willing to share? Thanks in advance!!!

Fishing the hot side can totally mess up your perspective during the winter months.  I have caught fish on a buzzbait during a snowstorm in December.  Having fished it for around 15 years I'll tell you that nothing is off the table on that body of water.  You can deep crank them, you can catch them shallow on plastics.  There are a couple of things I always look for.  The bite will be better if they are moving water...period.  To those fish it's like current.  I have spent 1/2 day sitting in pool 2 at the mouth of canal 1 and caught fish on a Sammy the whole time.  I just keep in mind that in the colder months, the fish move closer to the main pools and in the summer they move up the creeks and into the deep holes.

Thanks for the tips. Looks like my thread was combined with the OP's. Didn't mean to hijack, but appreciate the information.
