Well I'm buying by first Jig/Worm rod and I've narrowed it down based on quality for the price. I can't get my hands on them before I buy them so I'm looking for advice from those who have used these rods before. So my thoughts now (unless a bunch of people just tell me to go another route) are

Okuma TCS 7ft heavy MF Action (not sure how I feel about MF for a jig/worm)

Dobyns Fury 7ft heavy

Also looked at the Castaway Taranis but there specs seem strange

Any thoughts on these? My other 2 rods are St. Croix, but I'm not looking to break the bank and I want to branch out to other makers.

Among those you've mentioned, I'd go with the Dobyns Fury.

Personally I'd buy a Tatula for $109. That's a steal. You're welcome.

I'll second this. I have two tatula rods now and love them. They seem to go on sale for 110 or 100 rather frequently if you look around. very good deal for the quality of rod IMO.

The Dobyns Fury FR 704C would be my choice.  It is the 7 foot heavy model is a real weapon. Very nice rod.

Another great choice would be an Irod Genesis II IRG 704C.  If you have never felt an Irod these too are awesome rods.

I fish two rods for jigs and plastics. The first is my favorite rod of my entire arsenal. It covers baits from 1/4 to 3/4 but, can handle way more than just that. Check out the Powell Max 3D (mine is a Powell Max, the old version) 683 CEF.  That is a 6'8" 3 power beast of a rod.

I fish rods from all of these rod manufacturers and really like their products.

Wow, thanks for the great replies, that Tatula seems to have high praise all over the place and I've heard Irod come up a couple times too. You guys prefer F or XF actions? I keep boucning back and forth, I do think Heavy power is overkill for my lakes, I'm in New Jersey so there's never really and really bad spots.

I have both F and XF action rods. Maybe it's me but I'm not dialed in enough to see much of a difference to prefer one either way.

The Okuma TCS rods are very nice. I have one and would like to buy more when I have a need.

I am looking for a new jig rod. Currently using a Veritas 2.0 MH, which I do like, but was going to turn it into a worm rod and pick up another for jigs. From reading other forums and reviews I have kind of narrowed it down to Falcon BuCoo or Dobyns Fury. I had looked at Abu Veracity just because I do like my veritas. I was hoping our local tackle shop would get one or both of these rods in but they haven't yet so I cant really hold them before buying. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and if anyone has any other recommendations that would be great. Just trying to get an idea what might closely resemble the feel of the veritas as I like the way it feels and handles but looking to possibly try something different. Price wise looking from $100 to around $150. Thank you!

Editing my original post as I was linking you here when I posted on your other topic. I am leaning towards the Daiwa Tatula as that seems to have the most bang for the buck and great reviews online.

I also just order tatula 6'10 MH just for jig and skipping jig under dock. Check amazon if that place charge you for shipping, it is about same price but free shipping.

The St.Croix is 30 bucks more than the Fury.Something like a worm and jig rod i wouldn't cut corners to save 30-40 bucks. Its going to be one of the staples of your arsenal.

So many good rods out there these days.... Buy the one you feel most comfortable with. If you can't find one at least try rods with different reel seats. That should point you in the right direction. Hope this helps..

Confirmed that TW will price match this. And if you buy a gift card first you can get end up spending less than $100.

Another vote for the tatula. If you go with the fury step up in power. They fish about one power down from their rating. I have the 704c and it's pretty soft. I throw Square bills and topwater treble baits on it.

I would recommend the dobyns fury.  Dobyns warranty is one of the best you will find.  Depending on what size jigs you are thinking I would do the five power dobyns (Mag heavy) which is more of a standard heavy in the market (like dink whisperer said above about being a power lighter).

I don't own any jig rods under $150, so can't offer on the water experience with a brand in that price point.

Catt has lots of experience using jig rods in this price range and may offer his preference. I know He liked  IRG 744C and currently using a Falcon rod he likes.
