U-boat Aficionado Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Wanted something for a budget light pier, jetty and boat rod and came up with this. A KastKing Rover (that I took apart and re-greased) on a 6'6" medium heavy Ugly Stik. Spooled it with 15 lb. Big Game and walked out front to see if it would cast. Put a half ounce of lead on the line and had no problems chucking it without a backlash, in fact it was smooth. Too bad its 20 degrees and that water is ready to freeze! Hope I get a chance to hook into a few fish soon. I think this could work for swim-baits, too. 1 Quote

jr231 Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 What all can you catch off this pier ? When I lived in Michigan I lived in a city called Muskegon. And pier Marquette was known for producing salmon. Countless channels for big ships that you could fish the whole strip because they were lined with huge rocks. You could catch anything from catfish to sheepshead. Unfortunately they also became infested with lamprey and goby. They used to have an event (I'm sure they still do) where they would have the fisherman target the goby. All were to be killed and whoever got the biggest one recieved a.cash prize lol. They called it goby dick. Quote
