I usually just through my plastics away and was wondering if thats what everyone else does, or if you have some nifty use for them? I melt them and pour my own baits. You could get some cheap silicone molds in the 6-12 dollar range. Don't even need an injector. Just pour in the mold. Got mine at lurecraft. They have TONS of cheap molds. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 6, 2017 Global Moderator Posted February 6, 2017 This thread inspired me. Bought the supplies to make the molds, poured a couple molds this morning. Hopefully I'll have a couple decent molds and I can start melting down some of the 5 gallon bucket full of baits that I have. 2 Quote

Beats tossing all those plastics in the trash. I've got a few 1 gallon zip lock bags full. I use uvibes and swimbaits and melt them into more swimbaits. Uvibes are cheap to start with, if you remelt them a couple times they become super cheap. Make sure you've got good ventilation though. Melting the plastics gives off a strong odor, and you don't want to inhale all them fumes. 1 Quote

I'll try to remember to post pictures of the baits if the molds turn out decent. 1 Quote

Same with melting lead, as I might try that too. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 8, 2017 Global Moderator Posted February 8, 2017 They're not the prettiest, but I'm confident they'll catch me some fish. 2 Quote
SFL BassHunter Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Nice work Blue! They will get better. I cut the excess off to round them out. But I tried making my own mold and the baits just didn't look how I wanted them. That is why I bought the silicone molds. RMax I don't think you'll have an issue outside other than wind. Quote
