HigginsFishingMO Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 Hey there, I'm in the market for a crankbait rod and I'm looking for advice on the Mojo bass series. I want a MH rod that can handle 1.5 square bills through 5xds. In the graphite series they have. 7' MH Mod-fast that says it's for spinnerbaits. How would this rod work for those applications or would i be better off getting the 6'10 Medium Mod fast glass rod? The 7'4 Medium crankster is an option as well Quote
JustinJ Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 i just picked up a fenwick hmg for $100. i purchased the 7'2" medium moderate fast, hands down best cranking stick ive ever used. i mainly throw baby manns 1 minus, and rattle traps but it does toss a 1.5 well 1 Quote
Super User Spankey Posted February 2, 2017 Super User Posted February 2, 2017 You might like the SC Premier Series Crankbaits rods. I happen to like them. You might not. Try to see one if possible. I'm fishing (2) medium powers 6 1/2 and 7 foot versions. My baits fall right in line with these rods. I would not try to convince you on any Rod. Good luck with your search. Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted February 2, 2017 Global Moderator Posted February 2, 2017 What it says on the rod is the manufacture's suggestion, that's all it is. You should use it as a guide not as a statement of fact. The action and ratings of the rod is more important to make a decision based on what you plan to use it for. Ideally, I want a 7' + moderate action composite rod for cranks of any size. Case in point....I use a 7' Phenix X11 composite rod with a rating up to 3oz. It will throw a 1.5 as easily as a 10xd Mike Quote
Guest Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I use the mhmf spinnerbait mojo for cranking and it does just fine, works for me. Quote
GaterB Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Versatility wise the 7' medium is awesome. Taper lends itself well to the techniques you listed plus some! Sensitivity will be better as well. Just throwing another option in there for you. 1 Quote
