which is better / perfer

I'm having a difficult time on deciding on a new dropshot reel. I have it narrowed down to two reels. 

 

the reel is going on a 7'2 light action phenix M1 gives you an idea of the combo. 

 

the reels are:

abu gacia revo rocket 20

shimano stradic

Have you looked at an Okuma Helios yet/  I run an Okuma RTX and really like it but the helios is even nicer.

Well i would go the the shimano .  Now that we have covered the one of two choices might you check out something like a certate 2004 or one of the JDM specialty reels.  They have shallow spools and are designed just for things like dropshot.  Here is one i am looking at right now...

I looked at it but the ratio for me is a bit slower then I like. I want something with a faster line pick up. 5.0.1 compared to 6.2.1 or even that 7.0.1 is a world of difference

I agree with that one. the reel this new one else is replacing is a stradic mg 2500 from 2003 and it is as smooth as the day I opened it

thanks Dan, I was thinking that one too but the ratio on the rocket is appealing for sure. plus I have always loved the drag on shimano

For dropshots your most important thing you need to research is drag, i don't worry about ratio on dropshots rigs because my line is always tight. The drag on all my shimano spinners is smooth as butter, granted the highest I owned was a revo s in the Abu market. But I also thought my Symtre blew the revo sof the water in terms of smoothness and drag for a fair comparison.

settled stradic it is I was leaning that way anyways since I have experience with the stradic line and the drag is far superior in terms of pounds. the revo has 11lbs the stradic is rated at 20lb on their respective company websites

with 4 1000 series reels for all my bass fishing needs.
