1984 Bass tracker Tournament v-17

I am looking into Buying a  1984 BASS TRACKER Tournament v-17, with a 1984 75 HP Suzuki.

If i were to Buy it, I am buying it from a friend. But what is y'alls feedback on this boat?

Plus it goes 45 MPH with only a 75 on it when its rated for 90HP!

I have a '89 Bass Tracker Tournament V-17 with a Mercury Classic 50 (45hp).  I am getting about 27mph with it.  I really do love it.  A few things I've noticed....

The whole rod locker did not open, only half, the front board was rotted out on mine so I replaced it with a new one, adding rivetted hinges to create a full door for the rod locker works sweet now.  I was having trouble with my longer rods, it was really a pain.

With two or more people in the boat it rides very smooth, with just me, it's usually a pretty rough ride and sometimes a very wet ride.  If it's really windy and I have to go in the wrong direction, chances are I'm getting real wet.

Some of the wood has rotted on my boat, it's very easily replaced, I usually pull the staples on the carpet and reuse it.

All the electrical seems to work good thus far

The only time I see a drop of water in the bottom of the hull is if it's really rough out on the water, very rarely do I have any water in the bottom of the boat

I have a 24 volt Minn Kota Maxxum TM, with 65# thrust, works like a champ. It came with a 12-volt 36# TM, I am really glad I upgraded.  You obviously could go more than 65#, but so far that has been more than enough for me

I can run full speed in 1.5 - 2' of water no problems.  I can fish in a little less than a foot of water and still be floating.  I love that, I love fishing shallow, I can often go where other boats can't.  Doesn't look like it, but this boat drafts very little water.

I have a '82 bass tracker tournament tx 17'.  I absolutely love it.  Although i will agree that it is kinda a wet ride when its just me.  I have no complaints except that I need a bigger tolling motor on it.  But i'm working on that

Those early trackers were bad for leaking from the rivets.  I knew a couple guys in my bass club back then that had those early 80's trackers and they invariably wound up having to have the rivets fixed.  I wouldn't be surprised if the wood decking and flooring is rotted unless it's been replaced previously.

Great BOAT !.... I have 2 Bass Trackers...one's a 1982 Tracker III...the other's an 84 Tournament V-17 with a 60 hp Merc on it....The V-17 is much more roomier and stable than the other. I just recently bought a 1996 Stratos 278....I like it's stability and the ability to fish the points much easier in the wind. I've extended the decks on both bass trackers.....they're now at least 2 times their original sizes.....that was the best mod I did to either one of them. Good luck....and I hope it makes u a real nice boat...I know I've enjoyed mine.

 Oh man. I loved mine. It was a 1985 w/ 50 merc. Only thing bad was if it is real windy, that thing is like a sail boat. It sits higher out of the water than the new boats.

I have a 2003 tournament v-18 with a 90 merc on the back it dose 45mph its the dryest boat I have ever rode in but like every on else said its a rough ride in chopy water by your self.
