Super User Oregon Native Posted April 12, 2018 Super User Posted April 12, 2018 Enjoy the show....fishing isn't always catching. Like the reality. Quote
Super User Gundog Posted April 16, 2018 Super User Posted April 16, 2018 This weekends tournament was real close. Lots of changes at the end. Only a couple of pounds marked the last place from the 4th place cut. Fairclothe and Poche were good examples of how fortunes can change in just a few minutes in this format. Exciting to the end. 1 Quote
riverbasser Posted April 16, 2018 Author Posted April 16, 2018 Lots a laughs for me today. Casey's broken rod, poche dropping the pole during a hookset and lane throwing that fish above the boat and getting penalized. Was an entertaining episode Quote
OCdockskipper Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 I like Chris Lane a lot and respect the talent he has to win multiple Elite events and a Classic, but from a promotional side, something seems (to me) a bit off. When he is in the boat speaking, I get the feeling that every word has been rehearsed and has an ulterior motive. Kind of like in Roland Martin's shows where between casts, he reaches for an energy drink on camera (label out), a drink that I dare say no one else his age would ever touch. It just feels kind of fake. Who knows, maybe it is a Floridian kind of thing that doesn't translate to the other side of the country. Nonetheless, yesterday showcased his talent as well as reinforced the notion that Poche is a talented spaz... Quote
RichF Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Didn't it look like the scale Casey's boat official was using was actually weighing in 10ths of a pound? I saw it twice and it said 2.68 and 2.58 or something like that. The official called the weights 2lbs 7oz and 2lbs 5oz respectively. If that's the case, he got screwed outta some weight!! Quote
Tracker22 Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 How embarrassing it must be for Casey’s sponser to have a rod break on national tv. 1 Quote
riverbasser Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 pretty tough lake this past week, glad Ott, Poche made it through and Watson because he's hilarious. anybody else notice how often guys throw topwater all day in these events? this is very rare for me. did yall catch Watsons comment to his boat official while he was being warned about the dropping water level? "safety is of upmost importance for me. but going fast is more important" haha 1 Quote
KHNC Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Yes, i agree, the Murray episodes were very boring. They far from showcased the potential of Murray this time. I was hoping for more, since i fish there regularly. Quote
Super User Gundog Posted May 10, 2018 Super User Posted May 10, 2018 I'm surprised they moved it from Michigan to Lake Murray. The action was constant with the LM or SM at Alpena. Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 The last three episodes have been really good. Lots of action and nice sized bass. Only problem is its late spring/summer time now so don't have much time to watch them. Quote
Way north bass guy Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 Can MLF episodes be downloaded or streamed, I have it on WFN here in Canada, but it’s only on certain times of the week and I’d like to watch it other times when I’m not busy ( which is d**n near never nowadays). Quote

BassThumb Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Some of the episodes where the struggle are my favorite. It adds to the reality of the show. Plus, it's fun to see what tricks they have up their sleeve when their first 5 techniques don't pay off. Love the show. Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Wow, the sudden death episode was sooo good! The first 2.5 hours of fishing for them was fast and furious, at least it was edited that way. Way to go Ish! Wow. How did Ish do it? I guess he was in the right place at the right time. One of the Lane brothers crying again because they got crushed. lol. It seems they are either hot or cold, on top of the world or in the dumpsters. I don't know if Duckett makes good fishing rods but from what I've seen of him in MLF, he doesn't know anything about bass fishing. Time to get Duckett out of MLF and bring in some new guys! 1 Quote

From what I've seen and heard, no he doesn't neccessarily make good rods. But I'm not bashing just my experience. Getting rid of him would be almost impossible being as mlf was his idea and he's a part owner 1 Quote

ohboyitsrobby Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Very good episode. Kriet is allergic to sealing the deal. Gotta feel bad for the guy. It was fun watching Klein come from way back though. Quote
greentrout Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Ish Monroe found an early pattern and slammed dunked the rest of 'em...early...Klein pulled it out and did not do the choke like Kriet...Martens put on a heck of a charge and is in... Louisiana...sportsman's paradise... good fishing... 1 Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted June 17, 2018 Posted June 17, 2018 As much as I enjoy MLF, and I greatly enjoy it, the Championship rounds have to be tweaked some. MLF is different in the first rounds and sudden death and that difference makes it enjoyable. But when it comes to the Championship, its one person takes it all at the end of the day and that is the most boring part of MLF. Championship day should go like this - first period all competitors compete. Second period bottom three or four are eliminated and all the rest compete but weights are set to zero. Last period the top three or four compete and weights are set to zero. That would stop someone from running away from the field, like KVD has in the past. 1 Quote

It just wouldn't be fair to take away someone's weight each period. Yes there have been instances where the leader has clearly gapped the field but today Evers still had a good shot for awhile and there have been plenty of times when someone from the bottom has come back in the 3rd period to win. It just won't happen every time. I do think more than not the episodes are real nail biters for who will finish on top. My problem lately has been major league lessons. I think this needs real improvement. They should spend more time one on one with the top 3 guys and just let them explain their patterns and thoughts throughout the day. Instead as it is now its just a 30 min recap of what I already watched Quote
redux Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Dropping the weights at the end of each period and pulling competitors is silly unless you are trying to change the outcome of the day's fishing. It doesn't happen in any professional sport. No one should be penalized for having a bad morning, and no one should be penalized for having a good one. It sounds to me like you don't like the competitive nature of competitions. ? Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 I like the competition but I've noticed MLF is at its best in the qualifying and sudden death rounds and least interesting in the Championship round. They need to tweak it a little to really make it 100% perfect. 1 Quote
Super User Gundog Posted June 18, 2018 Super User Posted June 18, 2018 Just a suggestion, but if you notice that most of the catches come during the early morning bite. Maybe, for the champion round only, fish 4 hrs in the morning but for 3 days. Not sure if its feasible with the anglers schedules but it may keep scores closer. Quote

I think what would be better...break the lake into 3 sections, fishing a different one each period. That way, when a competitor stumbles across a school or good section of bank, he won't be able to milk the lucky spot for 3 full periods. In all honesty, there's just no way to make a perfectly level playing field in competitive fishing. Quote
