Danny_716 Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Hello all, I could possibly be taking a trip to Pickwick early-mid may and am looking for any advice (tactics, things to look for, etc.) I've never wet a line south of NY and I'm sure things are quite a bit different down south... any advice would be great, as I'm sure my gear/ tactics will need some adjusting. Super User roadwarrior Posted January 28, 2017 Super User Posted January 28, 2017 Nearly anything you would like to fish, except The Rig, will work in May. I generally start with topwater, jerkbaits, spinnerbait, lipless and square bill crankbaits. Other hardbaits you might want to consider are Bandits and the DT6. Then I move to soft plastics: Senko, Fat Ika, Rage Tail Baby Craw, Cut-R, Structure Bug Jika rigged and Rage Blade/ Structure Bug. GYCB Kut-Tail on a Shake2 is killer! Siebert jigs and swim jigs are staples. For smallmouth #1 is the Rage Menace; #2 BPS Tender Tube #71. And finally, my career best, Sworming Hornet/ LFT Live Magic shad. 1 Quote

Let me know what you catch* and what you catch them on. 1 Quote

I'd be going for a college tournament haha, only reason it's a maybe is because we have to find/fix a boat and drive it from Buffalo, NY.. is yours the Cabela's championship too? Quote
