bagofdonuts Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Bass are moving shallow here. Been spending alot of time pithcing jigs under cypress trees. A few weeks ago all i could get bit on was a jig with a zoom chunk trailer. The bite has slowed on that combo. Yesterday no bites for 45min pitching with zoom trailer, switched to rage craw on same jig and boom it was on. Same cover, same area, same jig and the difference was immediate and possitive. Still getting a few misses on bites were I think they're just picking up the trailer. Looking to try an in-between action on one rod. Any recommendations. 3 Quote
RichF Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Aside from the two you mentioned, I use 4 in chigger craws and Zoom Super chunks. Either of those could have the "in between" action you're looking for. Not as much as a rage craw but more than a Zoom big salty chunk. Quote

Super User burrows Posted January 25, 2017 Super User Posted January 25, 2017 I only use rage craws as trailers or grubs double tail grubs I don't like chunk trailers i don't know why, it's just me. Prefrance I suppose. 1 Quote

bigfruits Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 yum craw papi might fall in between the action of those two baits. i like both sizes. also, try a 5" DT hula grub on a jighead. Quote

Super User Raul Posted January 26, 2017 Super User Posted January 26, 2017 Geez guyz, there's only one manly sized bait worth being considered for trailer, Zoom Brush Hog. 1 Quote
Super User Angry John Posted January 26, 2017 Super User Posted January 26, 2017 in the cold i prefer a paka craw by netbait. I have not been jig fishing because i am busy getting it done on 4' swim baits. Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 26, 2017 Super User Posted January 26, 2017 Do bass strike the jig skirt or the trailer or a combination of both? You will catch more bass on the trailer, in fact a good trailer should work without a jig. I believe my pork rind trailers out fish any soft plastic trailers for big bass and they have no frantic moving action, just a slow life like movement. The past 2 years I have given Rage craws lots of time, more in fact than GYCB twin tail grub, RI beavers and Berkley Chigger craws combined and results haven't been good for me. For whatever reason Chigger craws have been my most productive soft plastic jig trailers. I have no brand preference if it works I use it! Tom 2 Quote
Scarborough817 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 for me it's the rage craw like most others but i also use the gambler burner craw, berkley chigger craw and the net bait paca chunk Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 26, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 26, 2017 Yum Christie craw is one of my favorites. It has a good amount of action but not as much as a Rage Craw. Quote
SwampLife Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Zoom super chunk... More action than regular chunk trailer but way less action than a rage craw or a ultra vibe speed craw Quote
