I know during D-Day they built artificial harbors that allowed for supply transport during and in the days after the operation. These “harbors” were actually pontoon causeways. The 25th Naval Construction Regiment were charged with not only building and maintaining these causeways, but also ensuring safe landing and operability of equipment on the sandy beaches.

Called em mullberries if in not mistaken(the pontoon bridges). All three my great uncles served. One landed on Utah beach with 4th infantry , other 2 were fighting through that "soft underbelly" in Italy . greatest generation indeed

3/75 Ranger Regiment 60 lbs. ago (aka 11 years).  I actually went fishing in Ramadi back in 2006.  I didn't pull any bass out of the Euphrates, though.

Army issued tackle box. I did 1 yr as a shotgun rider (door gunner) on a UH-1 and this was in the flight bag I drew from supply. I still have it.

That's a pretty cool piece of kit.  That's pretty complete considering what goes in most survival kits.

Outstanding, Nick! Give 'em hell! Be sure to come back on here to let us know how much you enjoyed boot camp! I take it you're going to San Diego?
