Super User gim Posted January 25, 2017 Super User Posted January 25, 2017 John Gillespie from Water & Woods has a grill attached to the gunnel of his boat and since he's sponsored by Johnsonville (made in Wisconsin, obviously), he's always eating and showcasing their products sometime during the show. Generally I do not fish all day long so there's no need to pack a lunch. If I'm heading out in the morning, I usually eat some sort of breakfast before hand or stop along the way. If I'm fishing in the evening, I almost always bring BEER. Quote
crypt Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 power bars, cliff bars, things like that, rice cakes, lot of water. maybe a monster in the morning.I hate coffee. Quote
clh121787 Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Cashews. If anything. Or pack a lunch. Find a shade tree. Or dock at a marina and grub down Quote
BillP Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I take two bologna sandwiches and bottled water in a cooler 1 Quote

bassguytom Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I usually bring some fruit of some sort and water. I always remember to bring a sandwich in case of emergencies. I bring the sandwich not so much to eat but rather put it in my hand because when the bite is slow as soon as you put a sandwich in your hand its fish on! 2 Quote
Super User RoLo Posted January 26, 2017 Super User Posted January 26, 2017 My wife accompanies me on every fishing outing, and typically prepares the lunches. The menu runs the gamut: sandwiches, hard-boiled eggs, leftovers, hotdogs, bananas, fried chicken ~ ~ It matters not to me, I'm happy with anything. We place very little emphasis on food & eating, and never break to eat, but munch while fishing. On a fishing vacation I'll typically drop 5 to 10 lbs. Roger Quote
Jaderose Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 A thermos of coffee, a bagel or two and two big bottles of water that I fill haf full and stick int freezer the night before then top off with water before heading out. I can always tell when it's break time and I need to eat something. I start getting impatient and casting erratically. Time to take a break...have a bite....a bottle of water and a deep breath......along with a smoke! 1 Quote
Yakalong Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 In the morning coffee is a must, sunflower seeds always a necessity anytime of day. 1 Quote
blckshirt98 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I used to eat sunflower seeds but as a shore guy, I didn't feel good about spitting the shells onto the ground, even though it's biodegradable. Thought it would encourage other people who fish there to leave their trash, that might not be biodegradable. Quote
MichiganBass80 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Water and Gatorade to drink. To eat we take sandwiches, chips, sometimes jerky, maybe a couple apples. I drink more than anything but on long days like trips to St Clair a sandwich helps. We actually just got a new RTIC Softpak 20 cooler to take it all on the boat with us. 2 Quote
CenCal fisher Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I like to eat bannanas while fishing. I feel that I have better luck when I do Quote
RMax Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 It depends who I am with and how long I am on the water. Usually an orange or two, water, and maybe an apple if its just for a little bit. If its in the morning, then add a granola bar or two to that list. If its all day, then a PB&J will help with lunch and maybe a rootbeer. Quote
kilroy9988 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I eat these, just have to remember plates, oh well Tim Hortons cups and tackle boxes work to. In reality I only BBQ on the boat a couple times a year while fishing for walleye. 13 hours a day jigging in the same spot you got time to cook. When fishing for smallies trips average around 6 hours so I just grab something on the way to the lake and just take a bunch of water, I toss a few boxes of granola bars in the boat in the spring and eat one every few outings. 1 Quote
Turkey sandwich Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I have now seen three people post "banana." You know who you are. I will not go fishing with any of you. Quote
tander Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 If I going in the morning I try to get up in time to fix breakfast. I carry Cliff bars and peanut butter crackers. For lunch it is Vienna Sausages with BBQ sauce and crackers. My drinks is mostly water with sometimes a Mountain Dew. You can also used the MD to pour down a fish if it is bleeding. Seriously. Quote
samwise2u Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Water, left overs, water, Skoal, water, gum, water. What's up with the bananas and fishing? I'm guessing old wives tale. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted January 26, 2017 Super User Posted January 26, 2017 A lot! I go through the 5 stages of dying everytime I fail to eat. Quote
mllrtm79 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 snack crackers, Tastykakes (if you don't know, well... you just don't know), water, occasionally an energy drink or Gatorade, raw almonds... I used to consume 2-3 energy drinks per day as well as coffee in the mornings, but high blood pressure has cut me off of most of that. I generally don't drink much coffee on fishing mornings due to the access to facilities on the water. Quote
RB 77 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Eats - To start the day I always try and have a hot breakfast. Breakfast Burrito, scrambled eggs and bacon, Oatmeal, etc. Lunch is usually a sandwich, Turkey, Ham, Torpedo, PB & J. Snacks - are usually some type of Nutrition Bar (I prefer Cliff bars), trail mix and/ or nuts and beef jerky. Drinks - are usually (and in this order) Coffee (early morning) , Water (all day on and off), Gatorade/ Powerade (mid day) and Beer (post trip). Quote

Hog Basser Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 No one's said beer yet? (I fish a private lake and stay on property, so no driving) I really don't drink that much while out (too busy fishing) and usually supplement with some water, fritos honey bbq flavor twists, and a quest protein bar. I've been known to pack an occasional banana or two, superstitions don't bother me. Quote
