BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 24, 2017 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 24, 2017 Curious what y'all snack on while on the water. Here's what Keri and I do: 3 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 24, 2017 Super User Posted January 24, 2017 I always have water to drink. On really hot days I take some Gatorade as well. During a tournament I keep some beef jerky and granola bars handy. A long day on the water fun fishing, I usually head back to the launch mid day or when the bite is slow and take a short break and eat a sandwich or something that's in my lunch pail in the truck, or I will dock at the little diner on the lake and go in and a hamburger or something. 10 years ago I could fish 10-12 hours straight with nothing more than a couple drinks of water throughout the day.............I can't do that anymore 3 Quote
smr913 Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 If I'm doing a float less than 3 hours I usually just pack some fluids. On longer trips its a PB&J and chips for a shore lunch. Snacks are generally a granola bar, nuts, or jerky. I take a gallon jug of ice water to stay hydrated. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted January 24, 2017 Super User Posted January 24, 2017 Nice Job. For a full day (or night) on the water, I always bring a sandwich or 2 of some kind. And I too, am a big Cliff bar fan. I will say that once the air temp start to drop, they get a little more challenging to chew; like frozen oatmeal. Besides that, some cheese sticks, Jack Links, and plenty of H2O .. .. .. .. .. .. .. A-Jay 1 Quote
The Bassman Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 The go to food in early BASS days was Vienna Sausages. Myself, I just eat big before I get there. Creek wading doesn't allow for too much extra. On hot days I'll carry water. I've paid dearly for not doing that with leg cramps that night. 1 Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted January 24, 2017 Super User Posted January 24, 2017 Nice tip about coconut water. I need to try that. I take water, jerky, cubed havarti or gouda, grapes or cherries or strawberries, and granola bars. A small cooler, three bottles of cold water, two bottles of frozen water, and a little bit of the rest in a small ziplock bag. 1 Quote

DrMarlboro92 Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Sashimi. Most of the time jerky, and I always have about a gallon of water on the boat per person. Every now and then the occasional sandwich graces my deck. Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted January 25, 2017 Super User Posted January 25, 2017 Pop tarts are my snack for when I'm on the boat. I usually have some Gatorade and always water. 1 Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted January 25, 2017 Super User Posted January 25, 2017 Usually a sandwich or two, plenty of water and occasionally some sort of sweets. I night fish in the Summer and usually eat a big meal before I go and carry water, a fiber bar or two and for some reason always have a bottle of Mello Yello. If the wife goes there are all kinds of homemade goodies. Quote
Junk Fisherman Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Coffee, banana, sunflower seeds If it is the summer, I will have a jug of water. I don't eat much on the water. Just enough so my blood sugar doesn't crash. Quote
Super User Scott F Posted January 25, 2017 Super User Posted January 25, 2017 The whole keeping hydrated thing by using sports drinks was made up by the companies that sell the drinks. Most contain huge amounts of sugar. You should carry water for when you get thirsty, but dehydration rarely happens. Check out this video from "Adam Ruins Everything" I'm a Cliffs bars fan myself. 1 Quote
