Mtlgrlie Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Wanted to say hello from Saratoga Springs, NY area! It's 33 degrees here now, but I hope to learn a ton from you on this amazing forum and get out there as soon as it gets warmer. I mostly have fished in a tiny plastic boat on Fish creek that goes into Saratoga Lake, but would love to venture out to any spots that I can have a trolling motor on. i just got a spinning Penn 3000 for Christmas and am excited to upgrade from a little Walmart Zebco. Oh, and thanks for the patience! Mtlgrlie ( no, not metal music. I used to work for a metal fabricator!) 2 Quote

Super User NYWayfarer Posted January 25, 2017 Super User Posted January 25, 2017 Welcome to the forums. Saratoga Lake is great for multi-species fishing. I have caught everything from Bluegill, Crappies, Bass and a baby pike there. 1 Quote

It's a bit large for my baby boat with only a trolling motor to get me there and back. We usually drag it sideways down the rock embankment at Bryant's Bridge on Fish Creek. Not the easiest, but it's closer to the more beautiful side of the creek. And a mile from my house. I am curious where on Saratoga lake to start though. It's kind of daunting with one 12v battery to explore. Yeah....brrrrrrr here. And the ice storm made my truck not so fun to "uncrack". Mtlgrlie Quote

It's kind of daunting with one 12v battery to explore. There is a boat launch, with a fee to launch (can't remember how much, it was a few years ago), located off route 9P. There is room for 40 cars and trailers, in the parking lot. overflow parking is available. I went with a 15HP motor 14' aluminum boat and covered a good bit of the lake. There are a lot of spots to fish even close to the launch. 1 Quote
samwise2u Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Welcome to Bass Resource! Some of the best fishing is close to the boat launch. 1 Quote

Subaqua Adinterim Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Welcome I have learned so much from the more experienced folks that are on this forum. Very helpful, knowledgeable people here. If you are bass fishing you don't need to fish the entire lake. I fish out of a small kayak and have a lot of fun fishing close to shore. Learn how to T rig a plastic worm and you are off to a good start. Best of luck 1 Quote
