I just caught a 3 pounder out of a pond I fish in vero beach Florida and it had a bloody tail does that mean it was making a bed? After I cought the bass I realized that the line guide on my shimano metanium Was loose and rattling around. Is there a way to tighten it?

Bass spawn in Florida in Jan to Mar when the water reaches 62-65 and continue for a few months depending where you are located.

Are you asking about the level wind line guide?

Water temp is 70-73 degrees and I have noticed that the bass are schooling up.

Water temps are more than likely surface temps, the bass should be at least 3' deep in cooler water but definately in the spawn stage.

Look at your reels schematic, the level wind mechanism has several parts that could be loose, starting with the pawl components.

Answering your first question, more than likely that was a spawning fish. Spawning has been underway in several areas already.

Cool. The pond that I cought that fish out of has some big fish in it. Hopefully I'll get lucky and find that 7-10lb bass on it's bed!:D

But you are in beautiful West Virginia getting educated.

Get that degree and move to Vero Beach.

Stay warm.
