Rapala Skitter Walk. In 2016 it was responsible for my 2 best numbers days, and it caught my biggest fish of the year. As a result, it's become my favorite top water bait.

Not exactly how sure this will fit the post but...this example gives evidence of how just letting your bait sit on the bottom will get you bit. On a couple of occasions while helping my son or a friend of his with their line, I lay my rod down while my bait is still in the water. By the time I'm finished helping one of them, a bass is tugging on my line.

Pink SK Zero, weightless t-rigged, fished like a jerkbait.

Just a random confidence bait of mine... and the girls LOVE throwing them against the wall and watching them stick. :)

A current favorite is a 4" Ocho stickbait, rigged on a small Owner wacky hook.  Drop it into any hole along the river bank and you almost cant fail to pull out a small bass.  My "record" so far is 5 fish in 5 casts in the same exact spot.  They tear up very quickly however, I need to find my calipers and get some o-rings that fit them.

I once caught a bass on   a jig and  cigarette butt just to make a point. Being I only did it once and used  just one brand ,I can confidently attest that Salem's are the best .

1.  Squarebill  on rip rap

2.  4" senko on a t rig

3.  Popper (rebel is my favorite)

4.  Lizard or brush hog on t rig

5. 4 3/4" or 6" straight tail worm on light t rig or shakyhead

Tough to beat a spook worked on top with busting fish near by. I also like skipping jigs and tubes at docks. My favorite way to catch them is punching mats.

I've never heard of catching a fish on a cigarette butt before. That's pretty awesome. I forgot all about a brush hog t rigged that's my favorite in warmer weather. My favorite color for a spook is sexy shad of course. My confidence bait is a soft plastic.

Was your point that nicotine is a drug? LOL

My friend has a pond where the bass are stunted, hungry and dumb. I caught one on a sour gummy worm from the dollar store on the second cast to prove a similar point. If you're interested in my experiment, it was T rigged, weightless. I really like those sherbet swirled colors. But as the day warmed, they got mushy in the baggie.

One of these days, when they're really turned on (or off) I'm going to try this. I call it Gummy Wrench, but haven't tied it on yet. It would probably work as well as a jigging spoon. I tried to keep some gummies around, but they always disappear. BTW, this is really in my box and I'm really going to try it. I may tie on a big bucktail fly I have instead of the gummy.

The bait I have the most confidence in to get a bite, any bite, from a bass is a 4" Zoom Finesse Worm in either watermelon or green pumpkin. Second is a smallish craw or Hula grub. Topwaters would be Spook, Jr and Chug Bug I think.

Once had a banner day fishing for smallmouth on a single, small point.  The action was so furious my uncle actually started casting out an unbaited gold bait hook on a split shot rig, and caught them.  I've some wild days, but that one takes the cake.
