South wind Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 I'm new to the forum and I know parts of my questions have been answered on other boards, but I wanted to know how the smallmouth fishing is in March on Pickwick Lake and what parts or areas of the rivers are best to start. I will be making 3 -3 day trips in March to Pickwick Lake. My question is how is the small mouth fishing in the yellow creek , JP Coleman area? I am trying not to have to buy an Alabama fishing license, but if it's much better from bear creek back to the dam, I will just buy one. Thanks, Mike Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 23, 2017 Super User Posted January 23, 2017 The best fishing is below the Pickwick Dam. I fished Indian Creek and Bear Creek Saturday without much luck (five bass and just two of them "keepers"). In March the fish should start staging for spawn so I would focus on main points and gravel bottoms. Specifically, Panther Creek, Dry Creek and Yellow Creek. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 23, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 23, 2017 I camped/smallmouth fished below Wilson dam last march. Epic fail but there were about 50,000 other bass boats that reported similar results so I didn't feel too bad Quote
JTMCGEE Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 If you have either a Mississippi or Tennessee license, you don't have to buy Alabama. Lookup the Tennessee Reciprocal Agreement. Quote
