I get it, "kill them with kindness!" Maybe I'll get a GoPro and make a video of some of the "entitled" rowers out there!

Ive played the kindness card for quite some time and most of the time it's met in kind, however, when you have kids operating and telling the high school crew boats "don't worry about them, they'll move" through a megaphone when they have plenty of water to go around, it gets a little contentious at times. Complaints to the coaches and even the schools they are attached to often result in their laughter at the situation. This often occurs during tournaments conducted on the reservoir. It's not a perfect world, I know this, common courtesy is lost on some of these people and I know, I don't have to fish there but at the same time, I can do what I feel is within my rights as a paying user of the waterway to let these folks know, pay attention and if you respect my ability to be there I will do the same!!

I'll apologize to the OP for both of us for Hi-Jacking this thread and after this I'll be done here.

IMO -  and it may not be "right" but you're fighting a losing battle.  (especially with younger humans - I know, I used to be one)

Effort & Energy focused on a different waterway would mostly likely garner better results All Around.

Yes! Apologies and rant over! A-Jay, everything you have said is correct and I thank you for allowing me to vent my frustrations. Likelihood of change, small at best since my age is the only thing that changes!!! Always a new batch of HS kids each and every year!!!

quanjig - I assume you are talking about the crews teams in the Occoquan reservoir. in this day and age, cant they use headsets and get rid of those bullhorns? noise pollution at its worst.

Yep, it is!! No better way to ruin a perfect summer morning that's for sure!! The paddle boarders are getting to be a pain! Nothing like rounding a cornere and have an entire gaggle of them lined up from bank to bank!! And now swimming in the res, what a bunch of hooey! All under the guise of ooops, lost my balance!!!!

ok lets start a donation to get these kids some headsets. i got $20 on it.

OP - write a false report on cotton mouth sightings in the reservoir. that can be your school paper.

quanjig - whats the prob with kayakers? would rather come across a kayak than a bass boat whether im in a kayak or a bass boat. the kayakers with situational awareness and common courtesy will launch on the side of the ramp to allow trailers to pull down. is that the issue? those types of humans are rare?

edit: the donation thing was meant as a joke but now that im thinking about it, im sure a lot of people would donate. im way to lazy too start this, who do i email?

The biggest problem that I have found when fishng is work getting in the way. Other than that when I'm fishing no problems. Too many things to enjoy when out fishing for any of it to be a problem.

We know good and well the reservoir harbors very few kayakers with "situational awareness" other than "oh look over there" as they paddle right across your line!!

It's extremely frustrating when I'm about to sight cast at a nice-sized bass in skinny water and a kayak comes barreling past at top speed.

If this is a marketing ploy, any product to repel kayakers/paddleboarders within 100 yards would be priceless!

Maybe I should consider introducing some cottonmouths to my favorite lake...

Not so sure the OP is helped or put off by this thread, LOL.

His/her first and last visit was Jan 21st.

Then again, we can be a tough crowd

My biggest problem while fishing is not enough time to stay

out on the water. Always need more.

..... and this isn't so much a problem but creating more green products. Hope this answers your question and proves that I am not a marketer.

I feel you on that one!

You're not the anti-lead guy that was here a few weeks ago, are you?  IIRC, he, too, waltzed in, dropped a load and took off.

You would think marketers could come up with a better story than working on a college project, it seems threads like this (all started by "college students") are popping up every other week now.  Then the leave.

Called it.
