Last time I did that I was almost arrested for creating a toxic landfill. That's the last time I go fishing after a lunch at the Tex-Mex-Scottish food truck. Ahhh...haggis enchiladas.

Crowded lake, non-boaters infesting the boat launch then looking at you sideways as you try to launch your boat around them....not like it's a boat launch or anything.

In the summer its the pleasure boaters, skiirs, and worst of all the wake boarders with boats that are designed to create huge wakes by adding ballast weight to the bow.  Right now its muddy water and hard water.

The biggest problem with fishing.... is the reality that there's never enough time to do it as much as we want....

I carry a roll of TP, a couple of plastic shopping bags, and a 1 gallon freezer bag in the dry bag I keep in my kayak.  If there are no facilities, I do my business in a bag, double or triple wrap it, then put it in the freezer bag and dispose of it as soon as possible.

Some of what has already been mentioned are the problems I encounter the most.  High winds, ramp idiots, and recreational riff raff (wake boarders, skiers, tubers, pontoons, jet skis, etc) are the problems I generally have the most often.  I try to target days with rain in the forecast now and I can generally reduce ramp idiots and recreational riff raff when I fish in inclement weather.

The jet skis get my blood boiling sometimes.

You would think marketers could come up with some better story than working on a college project, it seems threads like this (all started by "college students") are popping up every other week now.

I have one heck of a time fending off all the scantly clad young women who hang around the lake in the summer...............no really, trust me,...........it's a problem.

I can see how a bunch of 5 year old little girls swimming topless around your boat would indeed qualify as a problem.  They must be attracted by the "Free Candy" sign hand painted on the side of your boat.  Smack 'em with a paddle a few times and they will leave you alone...:D

Too few lakes and too many people.  But from what I hear regarding the eastern seaboard and elsewhere, I must actually have it pretty good.  Still, I'd love to be able to choose from many unpressured lakes.

sun, high wind, high humidity, heavy rain, freezing temps, bugs that bite, crew teams and getting back to the launch before the park closes.

Rowers, kayakers and paddle boarders in that order

Perhaps try a night fishing trip.

You may be pleasantly surprise how few of these are on the lake in the dark of night.

On that particular body of water, I wish that was possible!! If I lived on the reservoir and had access, I could do it but all the public ramps close at dark!

I've run into that a few times.

And before I go on, it's important to know the regs for that body of water, meaning is the "ramp" closed or is the "lake Closed" after dark ?  Because lakes that have decent daytime fishing but rarely if ever get any night pressure are particularly attractive to me.  And with good reason.

However I am a law abiding human, so when it's legal to do so - I'll go for "the Over Night Trip".  Perhaps have someone "Drop You Off" where you launch prior to sunset and then they depart with the trailer.    Then schedule a pick up in the morning some time after the ramp is 'Open'.

It's a bit of a hassle no doubt and you're pretty much committed to spending the whole night.  But if you're used to fishing an 8 hour daylight trip - this is no different except you're doing when you're usually sleeping - and the fishing is Almost Always better.  Totally worth the extra effort.

If you've not done something like this I will warn you - it can be addicting.

btw - if it works out, I would encourage you to NOT TELL ANYONE - you'll hose yourself.

Heavily pressured lakes, heavily traveled lakes (jet skis, ski boats, the unknowing/clueless pleasure boaters driving blindly as if no one else was there).

A mental issue that comes to mind...second guessing my location. A "the grass is greener" type of problem. Instead of focusing on the area I'm in I'll start thinking another place may be better.

Switching lures too frequently is another "problem".  Switching lures is fine if I'm working a small

area...drop off, falldown, sunken brush. But sometimes when I'm moving I switch lures every few casts because the "something else should work" thoughts pop into my head.

The reservoir is owned by the water authority. The public launches are owned by their respective county and regional park authorities so those are pretty much out. The one community owned launch has signs stating it is closed at dark and the neighborhood surrounding it is a little sketchy at best and wouldn't want to entertain that!! There are a few other private community launches, but I don't have access to them. If I knew someone that lived in those communities, I would definitely take advantage of those for sure!!!

Dont get me wrong A-jay, I appreciate the solution! Maybe I just need to be a little more patient with others on a multi use facility where I do most of my fishing. Perhaps invest in a rechargeable air horn since the rowers have the idea that being backwards in a boat give them cart blanch to go wherever they want!!!

At the height of the "recreational boating" season here - there are a few lakes I fish that are "full' of users other than anglers.  This includes but is not limited to, Water skiers, Jet Skiers, Packs of Kayaks, Paddleboards & my personal favorite - Boats on plane pulling inflatable "couches' full of inebriated humans.  (ask me again why I fish a lot at night)

I have no problem with it as they have every right to use the water as I do.  If I choose to fish them, I will ALWAYS do it Mid-week, and I will be on & off the water before the Rush.  The choice to stay longer almost always ends in frustration.

If & when you have no choice other than to be there when it's busy,  I would not recommend anything other than Avoidance when it comes to other users on the water.   Unless you're going to smile & wave, Nothing good can come from it.

So again - I say Good Luck

I get it, "kill them with kindness!" Maybe I'll get a GoPro and make a video of some of the "entitled" rowers out there!

Ive played the kindness card for quite some time and most of the time it's met in kind, however, when you have kids operating and telling the high school crew boats "don't worry about them, they'll move" through a megaphone when they have plenty of water to go around, it gets a little contentious at times. Complaints to the coaches and even the schools they are attached to often result in their laughter at the situation. This often occurs during tournaments conducted on the reservoir. It's not a perfect world, I know this, common courtesy is lost on some of these people and I know, I don't have to fish there but at the same time, I can do what I feel is within my rights as a paying user of the waterway to let these folks know, pay attention and if you respect my ability to be there I will do the same!!
