CTBassin860 Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 I ordered the 1/2 oz morning dawn. Its light enough for my topwater rod,but will 13# Defier Armilo cut the mustard?Am I better off throwing this on a jig or frog rod with 50# braid? Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 21, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 21, 2017 Rats are fun to fish. I just bought a 30 size Spro and the biggest size Savage Gear. The Savage Gear looks amazing in the water. Quote

I could use my frog rod but that's at the threshold for weight rating.Already re tipped that stick twice and don't trust it Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 21, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 21, 2017 I have the smaller duck and threw it on a MH with no issues. Quote
LuckyHandsINC. Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 I use 12# mono for the 7 1/2" 1 oz rat with no problems. Quote
Super User NHBull Posted January 21, 2017 Super User Posted January 21, 2017 That will be fine, I use 10lb braid with leader and great luck Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted January 21, 2017 Super User Posted January 21, 2017 I fish the 40 size (1oz 7-1/2") on my jig rod with 40lb braid. I like fishing it right at the edge of lily pad edges and mono and 1/2" lily pad stems don't go well together. More open water or around wood I might go to 15lb mono. 1 Quote
