My minds already on summer ledges for some reason and im curious what others use for deep diving crankbaits. I'm classifying deep as 20' and up. Also please specify the line you use.

I noticed berkley has a newish diver called the Dredger, it supposedly reaches 26'. Any use this one?

Beware of lure mfr claims of deep diving lure depths.

The depth may be possible to achieve when trolled with specific line type and diameter behind a boat traveling at optimal speed with 100+ feet of line out.

Casting ant deep diver over 150' and retrieving it to dive to maximum depth is nearly impossible.

What is interesting about the Berkley 21' & 26' deep divers is they are only 3" long.

Take a look at a Scrounger jig, it sinks to whatever depth you need to reach.

A 6XD will scratch bottom in 20' of water on a long cast with 10 pound fluoro. I haven't used a crank that runs deeper than it, but for 15' to 20' feet the 6XD is my favorite. As WRB said, a lot of manufacturers will claim their lure runs deeper than it does. It's hard to get a 3" crank that will actually run 20'. I wonder how the Berkley Dredger will do myself.

Ive never heard of the Berkely Dredger . I'll be sure to give them a try this year .

Interesting lures . They have a weight in the lip like the old rebel Double Deep Wee R .I'm not one that has to try a lot of new lures but I'm going to get one in each size , probably all in Fire tiger . lol

I had no problems hitting 20+ last year with 8 and 10xd's. I throw them on a 7'10" enigma rod with a tatula 5:1 with 12# flouro.

I have picked up a few deep arashi and other deep cranks to try this year recently.

I've never been able to get my DD22 to 20'. This could be my fault not getting a long enough cast or something

The following list  are baits that are for me, legit 20 ft plus deep divers. There may be others, but these are  the ones I've got experience with.

They are almost all fairly larger baits that I can & do throw on 30 lb braid (suffix 832) and believe it or not,  on big (20lb) mono.

Bill Norman DD 22 HD Crankbaits

Duo Realis Crankbait G87 20A

Lucky Craft SKT Magnum 120 Mag DR Crankbaits

Strike King 8XD & 10XD Crankbaits

Some are pictured below ~ and just for a size reference, the top bait is a 10XD

FYI @riverbasser - be fore warned - regardless of what some claim, I'm here to say, 8 hours of chunking & winding these baits can test anyone's intestinal fortitude.

David Fritts stated they rate the Berkley new deep divers using .011 dia line and thought that was important to note. IFritts is right about the new designs they will change how deep diving cranks are designed, smaller size with less water resistance that dive deep, can't wait to give these a try out.

@A-Jay yes I'm aware of that. Throwing the DD22 is basically like fighting a fish all the way to the boat. I don't tend to throw these for long periods unless they are really biting them. I will say that I'm probably not using the best equipment for deep divers as well but what I have works

BTW in your picture you saying the very top bait is a 10xd? If so then the 2 below it are HUGE!

Looking forward to your review Tom ~

This new Berkley bait's shape reminds me of the original wooden Poe's Super Cedar Series baits.

After a bit of time with an Lucky Craft SKT Magnum 120 Mag DR Crankbait, fishing a standard DD22 is like a "rest".

I have a couple, they're solid baits. The whole Berkley lineup of hard baits has been very productive for me. Nice to have a reasonably priced hardbait option that comes in good colors AND with good hardware.
