If this is the same one that the head that attaches to the spool spins 360* while you're spooling, then yes, I have seen promo video's for it and it looks like it would twist your line terribly.

However, if that head that holds the spool is in a fixed position, then this looks like a great product.

Watch the video. The head can spin while spooling a spinning, and can be fixed for spooling a casting reel.

Why would you want to spin the spool while you spool up?  Makes ZERO sense to me.

You beat me to the question.

I have a line spooler like that one and I really like it.  I have found little difference when spooling up a spinning reel in keeping the fill spool fixed or letting it spin for braid, but with floro it seems to keep the line from wanting to jump off the spool as much.  No idea what the mechanism of effect is, I might just be imagining it.

In any case, it is a good tool and keeps me from bugging my wife whenever I want to respool.

I'm looking to pick a line spooler up.  Anyone have any great products they use?

My current setup is placing the spool in between the flour and sugar containers and putting the knife block in front of that.  Works pretty well.

I bought this one from Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Goture-Portable-Fishing-Spooler-Accessories/dp/B0116JEU6I/ref=sr_1_4?s=hunting-fishing&ie=UTF8&qid=1484864871&sr=1-4

It's easy to use and cheap. I only use braid on spinning reels though, so I don't know how mono and fluoro work on it. I do spool my batters with copolymer withe it and have never had any problems.

I actually use an old cymbal stand.  Works the same as any spooler tool I've ever seen.

8" pole barn nail through the spool and clamped in my benchtop vise has worked for years.

For spinning reels, just stand the spool on the floor, make sure the line is coming off of the spool in the proper direction and wind 'til it's full.

No need to over-complicate things.

I built my own line spooler that I use on both my spinning and baitcasting reels. I used a couple pieces of spare wood I had, 2 bolts, and a couple washers/nuts.

With a 2x4 that is approximately 18" long, I drilled a hole in the center of it that holds a bolt run through the line. If I am putting line on a spinning rod, I have the line facing parallel to me and if it is for my casting setup I just turn the wood perpendicular to me. The only problem with it is when I spool a spinning rod, I still have to maintain pressure holding the line with my index finger and thumb. But spooling a casting reel is easier as I can tighten the bolt down to add the necessary pressure to the line as it spins.

When I get home from work, I'll try and take a picture.
