Super User Cgolf Posted January 18, 2017 Super User Posted January 18, 2017 With all the wart talk, I went back in the basement and grabbed these three thin fins. What's the scoop on these things, good bad or other? I also have some Risto Raps somewhere too. 4 Quote
bigturtle Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 without adding extra weight, they dont cast good at all. I personally dont like them Quote
Super User scaleface Posted January 18, 2017 Super User Posted January 18, 2017 Hard to cast but they catch fish . They were one of my favorite lures when fishing farm ponds . I have a heavier rattlin Thin Fin that works real well . 2 Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted January 18, 2017 Author Super User Posted January 18, 2017 Cool I might throw some hooks on them and try them around sdocks this spring when the weeds aren't up yet and I won't need to cast very far. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted January 18, 2017 Super User Posted January 18, 2017 They can be retrieved straight in , twitched , or just let it set still . 1 Quote
razor6570 Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Never used them on bass but salmon sure love them! They are terrible to cast! 1 Quote
jr231 Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I'm not sure what the scoop is on these baits. I'd give em a go. Let's sip some of that Bacardi tho 1 Quote
Bigbarge50 Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I have an old one (pre switch) that casts well and has caught many a bass (color bleeding shad). I own three newer ones and they come with crap hooks and feel flimsy and they do not cast well at all. For me I still like throwing my old one over shallow weeds and around rocks when I want a tight shake to my cranks. I think the flat sides give a real nice profile and many a bass seems to agree. Super User fishballer06 Posted January 18, 2017 Super User Posted January 18, 2017 If you're willing to part that sunfish one, PM me. Quote
Subaqua Adinterim Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 This goofy lure really does work and will catch bass, pike and trout. Best way to use is to slowly troll. I'm partial to the blue and silver in the 2.5" size. Good luck. 1 Quote
William Rossi Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 That Sunfish color on a wart is worth good money. Not sure about the Thin Fins Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 22, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 22, 2017 I have a few, they're good fish catchers, probably one of the worse casting baits I've ever fished though. 1 Quote
rboat Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 I would try throwing them. They do catch fish. It is like trying to cast a pringles potato chip, but they do work. Quote
