Gotfishyfingers? Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I haven't posted a report in a while. Went fishing Sunday 1/15 from 1pm til sunset. East side of US 27, north of everglades park. Mostly cloudy skies, I think like hi of 77. l started close to the ramp and headed south. It was really windy but since it was coming out the east, the trees/ bushes blocked it good. There was a giant patch of eel grass on the corner by the ramp. Threw a horny toad and had a hit but didn't connect.. Flipped it a few times but no takers with a gambler crawdaddy. As I headed south the wasn't many patches of eel grass but I targeted the ones I saw. Same with lily pads. I did manage to catch 2 bucks on a zara spook and another on a rattle trap. I threw a flippin/swimmin jig, swim bait, senkos etc. blk/blue or watermelon. I tried to fish real slow since the wind wasn't a factor. Couldn't get a bite on soft plastics, oh well. Didn't see any spawning beds either..Didn't seem to be much life in the water also. pretty quit... When I showed up there was a few trailers in the parking lot but I didn't see another boat while fishing. Everyone must of headed north.. Going to check out Lake O soon. Hopefully there is a mega wave of spawners moving in.. Quote
Super User geo g Posted January 20, 2017 Super User Posted January 20, 2017 Went out Saturday to the Alley west of the Miami River. Tons of Oscar action in the pads and on the flat. Bass caught were small and deep in the canal. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted January 20, 2017 Super User Posted January 20, 2017 Thank you for the report Gotfishyfingers. Glades just hasn't come around yet. It should soon if the rain stays away and the Lake continues to drop, then maybe the big girls will move in from the marshes. Quote
Wurming67 Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 We were on Loxachee on 15th in North canal with the wind picked up a few couple pounders on worm, fluke, senko and sb . Going tomorrow see what happens. Tight lines!!! Quote

Yeah, I was in the main canal mostly because of the wind. Caught bunch of small ones and a nice 4 1/2 pounder. Later I went to the flats and could barely fish, to much wind. 1 Quote

Plenty of water but was lower than 2 weeks ago, probably only a couple of inches lower. Also the wind is terrible in the afternoon, you will probably want some sort of shallow water anchor to hold you down. 1 Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted January 24, 2017 Super User Posted January 24, 2017 Lower water in the flats means that the canal action may start picking up soon. Thanks for the report. 1 Quote
