XzyluM Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 One of the few shows I have set to record. 1 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted January 18, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 18, 2017 Absolutely do! I really enjoy this format, it's a lot more entertaining and seems like it would be easier to do with live TV. 1 Quote
CTBassin860 Posted January 18, 2017 Author Posted January 18, 2017 Watching Keith Poche tear it up right now. 1 Quote
razor6570 Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Very good show. I enjoy watching how each of the anglers react to the score tracker! Some handle it very well while other become very irritated. Keith Poche had a great day. Love to fish that kind of tournament. I would be the person that wouldn't handle to score tracker going off constantly! It would stress me out to the max! 1 Quote

If I were having a bad day and the score tracker kept going off I'd probably crawl up in a little ball in the back of the boat and chew my fingers to a nub! 2 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted January 18, 2017 Super User Posted January 18, 2017 Very enjoyable....hoping to see one on some waters near knoxville that I've been on. But look forward every week to this show. Quote
riverbasser Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I'm a big fan. How did y'all feel about that guy going in front of James Watson and catching that 5lber? Can't remember his name. 1 hour ago, MassBassin508 said: Watching Keith Poche tear it up right now. Did you catch him tying on that rat during the break to try to throw them off. Lol Quote
wdp Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 MLF is by far the best tourney fishing to watch on TV. Love the format, love that every scorable fish counts, and the live score tracker def throws most the anglers off & puts them in spin control mode. The best part is that locations are kept secret until it's time to fish. No prefishing, no practice. They just gotta go & catch em. Ive recorded & watched every show the last 2 & half years. 1 hour ago, riverbasser said: I'm a big fan. How did y'all feel about that guy going in front of James Watson and catching that 5lber? I think if Watson had run to the docks with his big spoon sooner in period 3, he'd have won, like last year. 2 Quote
Smallieseeker Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Best show on tv! I have just about every season on DVD now. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted January 18, 2017 Super User Posted January 18, 2017 I would never miss a show! Best fishing entertainment on the tube. However, one thing I have a problem with is that it is unclear (to me anyway) what the actual progression is for moving up the rankings. They have the Summit Cup rounds, survival rounds, etc.. Wish they'd show a flow chart on how it all comes about. 1 Quote

I think Jason Quinn and Byron Velvick last year were knocked down to the select bracket and a couple of the select guys moved up. If you're in the selects group you have to fish move and do better to make it to the summit cup. I think I have it right, if I don't someone will chime in and steer me and you in the right direction. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 18, 2017 Global Moderator Posted January 18, 2017 My favorite fishing show on TV right now. We've used certain aspects of the format and based our little tournament series off them. It's fun in real life too. 1 Quote

MLF is entertaining but I'd really like to see them adopt the biggest five rule (or something like it) to discourage the shakey head, bank-beating, dink-fests a little. 1 Quote
1simplemann Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Easily my favorite fishing show. What I don't understand is how these new guys get to be on show at all. There are some very big names on the FLW circuit that are not on it. Scott Martin, Andy Morgan, the Richardson brothers etc. Do they not get asked? Nothing against the new guys but I would like to see how the heavy hitters in the FLW stack up against the Elite guys. Either way I love the show 7 minutes ago, RichF said: I lost a little respect for Kevin Short after he did that and I'm by no means a Watson fan. That was a jerk move on KS's part. Either love Watson or you hate him. Personally i find him amusing although at times he can be too much. He kinda got what he deserved by shoving those fish in KS's face. He should have just kept fishing and let the score tracker do the talking for him. The every fish rule is what makes the show and separates it from the others. If your catch'n em', your catch'n em, Quote

I too get a little bored with the dink fest, however in return you do get to see how these guys die-sect in most cases an unknown body of water. I look at it as a trade off from the dink fest. Quote

Basically came down to the first 24 that signed on and ponied up the money to compete. I'm sure some didn't have the $$ while others simply didn't want to or were on the fence. I believe the original 24 then get first crack at renewing again each year. Quote
CTBassin860 Posted January 18, 2017 Author Posted January 18, 2017 Watson was breaking off his Bagleys on stumps too Quote
riverbasser Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I find Watson hilarious on TV but probably could not fish with the guy in real life. Catching and weighing every scorable bass is what make MLF a good show IMO. Best 5 would cut out all the content like score tracker updates and getting guys nervous. It would also force the anglers to fish a lot deeper in the summer which would mean a lot of time going by not catching anything since they don't know the lake. I enjoy the speed and anxiety of it since I always pick a favorite who I want to win and when their struggling I get in on the anxiousness. 1 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted January 18, 2017 Super User Posted January 18, 2017 I love the show but still dont understand how someone is eliminated ,moves on,rankings and all that. I totally get the fishing format, just dont understand the rest. Its actually more fun than frustrating to try and figure it out. The commercials are even good.My favorite is the line one with the japanese angler (His name escapes me at the moment )Summarizing what all the good ol boys said.I laugh or smile every time. I wish theyd do one on the st johns river.I used to fish it a lot,and would love to see where theyd fish and how. Quote
Skeeter Dan Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I watch it every weekend and when I can't . I record it Quote

Right now in the qualifying select rounds there are 3 rounds with 6 different anglers. The winner moves on immediately to the summit cup. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th get to fish again in a second chance elimination round. 5th and 6th place are eliminated. Maybe this helps a little mike Quote
