CTBassin860 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 So I'm in need of a crank rod.I recently picked up the Curado 70.I was contemplating returning the 70 and picking up the Tatula CT leaving me about 80 on a gift card. With my purchase at BPS today I got 500 bonus points putting me at 15.00 to use.So I could combine the card and the points and get the Falcon Bucoo SR for 5 bucks out of pocket.Smart idea? Or am I going to miss the Curado 70? Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted January 15, 2017 Super User Posted January 15, 2017 Personally I do not care for Shimanos, but I really do like the Daiwas. I sold off some Curados, BPS reels and Chronarch 200Es. I replaced them all with Tatula type Rs and Tatula CTs. I love those reels. As for your swap, I think it will make a nice combo. I fish a Falcon Bucoo Micro series Trap Caster and that is a great rod for small to mid size cranks, traps square bills and even some larger spinnerbaits or chatterbaits. For $5 that is a steal! 2 Quote
Kidflex Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Get what you really want and not settle for something because it was on sale. Before you know it you'll have a whole bunch of mediocre stuff as opposed to a few top notch setups that you'll really enjoy using. A couple cheap reels equals a really nice one. Just my opinion though. 5 Quote

CTBassin860 Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 The more I think about it I can complete 2 steups for the price of that curado.I don't need 400$ setups to catch fish effectively. Quote

Fun4Me Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 I don't think the Curado 70 is $80 better than the CT. If money is tight, going with the best value is a fine option. Quote
CTBassin860 Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 Its not about tight finances. Its about getting the most out of the funds. Its all gift cards anyway. Quote

Fair enough. How much do you like the Curado? Answering that question will determine if you will miss it or not. Quote
CTBassin860 Posted January 16, 2017 Author Posted January 16, 2017 I like the feel of both.I've only pitched around the house with the 70 so far.I've already spooled the braid onto my spinning reel and put the 70 back in the box with the receipt. Quote
Fun4Me Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 I think you'd be happy with the CT and the extra money for other stuff. Quote
CTBassin860 Posted January 16, 2017 Author Posted January 16, 2017 The extra money is a Falcon SR Quote
Fun4Me Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Sounds like you made up your mind, Enjoy it! 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted January 16, 2017 Super User Posted January 16, 2017 I am a firm believer in getting what interests you the most. If that means a reel today, and the rod a month or so down the road, then so be it. I use several brands of reels (and rods), and like almost all of them. I've never held the Curado 70 series, but fish 51E and 201E Curados plus Tatula Type Rs. I wouldn't consider the Tatula mediocre. I think they are fine reels. Especially for the low cost they can be had for. Ultimately it is your decision. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted January 16, 2017 Super User Posted January 16, 2017 Personally I love the 70, this thing rocks. I can pitch, cast, ...etc with such ease. Although I'm biased the other way and like Shimanos. Like others have stated though, do what you really want, if you don't you will regret it and sell for a lower price down the road. Or thinking out of the box, instead maybe return, wait for spring classic. Turn in an old reel and get a super high end reel during the reel trade in offer. Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted January 16, 2017 Super User Posted January 16, 2017 When I posted my response earlier I stated I own a Falcon Bucoo Micro series rod and really like it. I have not had the SR series (non micro guide series) but I would expect it to fish just as well as my rod. If I needed another rod I would definitely consider another Falcon rod. I expect you will like it. As for the CT I purposely sold off my other reels and enjoy fishing my 2 CTs and 4 Tatula Type Rs, so I think you will like it also. I would never call those mediocre, but then again I have fished them. 1 Quote

Do you trade the reel in for what they think its worth now, or original msrp, or what? Quote

The discount is based on the price of the reel you want to buy. I can't remember, but it's like 100 dollar reel 10 off..etc up to a certain point 500 = 100 off? 1 Quote
