Guna makes some changes to how and how often I throw a spinner bait. Want to experiment with different size and styles of blades along with colors and texture.

Whats a good spinnerbait to start with? Basically from just a good hardware or design stand point since I will be changing blades?  Been looking at mega strikes strikeback spinners since the head is free from the wire. Any thoughts? Thanks

Terminator T1. Runs true out of the package and never needs adjusting. Also the arm never breaks. They are expensive but after breaking more than a few spinner bait arms the cost is worth it.

The Megastrike Strike Back was my top producing spinnerbait this past season.

I still use the H&H spinnerbaits when I need a small 3/8 size but for my larger 1/2 oz ones Peppers Custom does the job.

I find it funny how things come back around with time. Megastrike Strike Back is basically doing what the original H&H did way back by having the hook free from the wire.

I make my own but if I was going to buy off the shelf it would be the Stanley Wedge Plus!!

I use the War Eagles a lot but the Booyah spinnerbaits are good too an considerably cheaper. I like a double willow leaf or a tandem pairing with a small Colorado and Big Indiana blade.

They are all similar . I would make sure they have quality swivels and buy whatever is the least expensive . I've been seeing some good baits on clearance already  .

I have the preference for double willow most of the year. I like at least one gold blade. 1/2 oz will cover most situations. My favorites are old Uncle Buck's that I bought years ago, but they're no longer available from BPS. I caught my PB on one.

Picasso and war eagle if i buy retail ones.

My favorite are made by a fishing buddy. He uses lighter wire so it vibrates more. Downside is it often needs bending back to shape after a good fish but its worth it to me. They have been better producers for me.

Another vote for the Terminator T1.  However, you can buy good spinnerbaits (strike King/war eagle/boo yah) significantly cheaper

although i havent used it much yet, im liking the revenge deep runner. i can vouch for war eagles although i wish they had more skirt.

thanks, roadwarrior. i have a handful of skirtless spinnerbaits that i have been ignoring for too long.

what do you like about those skirts vs rubber? they look more durable and shiny.

I'm going to be throwing some Strike King spinnerbaits this year. As the season goes along, I'll be taking a look at my results and perhaps try a couple of different ones if I'm not having the success I had hoped with them.

The StrikeBack by Megastrike looks pretty interesting.

This was a tip from Glenn which I have adopted: I replace ALL skirts with Lumaflex

:love-093:

I tried that and It didn't appear to have helped. I still have the one I put lumaflex on so it will still get tried. I just don't see me ripping off good skirts to put lumaflex on. But if you need a skirt I don't think lumaflex is worse.

If you want a versatile spinnerbait that can be fished anywhere   its hard to beat  a single willow leaf . I use them out on   long points  along the bottom and then throw the same lure in shallow brush .

A real good lure is the Strike King Midnight Special . It has a built in rattle and doesnt have to be relegated to night-time duty .

There's a slew of great overhead spinners out there, but I've been partial to War Eagle:

Round Robin>       War Eagle Double Willowleaf

Low Lite/Murky>   War Eagle Single Colorado

I use Nichols spinnerbaits for decades and they still out fish everything else that I have tried. Always run true, nearly unlimited types and colors of blades, high quality that last a very long time.

Tom

PS, KVD got his career started using Nichols spinnerbaits until being sponsored by Strike King.

I really have to narrow it down to three different baits that I personally will mainly purchase or look at when I buy spinnerbaits war eagle termanators 1 and pepper custom. I have to also add that I started with booyah and they are the best budget spinnnerbaits in my book.
