For those that are faced with an 'off season' what kind of projects (not activities), if any, do you take on  until you can wet a line again. They don't need to be fishing related, rather just something that keeps your interest and takes some time to complete.

I'm faced with 8-9weeks of inactivity and looking for something fulfilling to do.

Wrong forum.......my bad

My other thing beside fishing and riding is wood working. I always think of something not too big to built where it helpful around the house. Right now I see many projects for my new house, but I cant since all my tool still with a friend and I had to give away my diy workbench and wheel cart to my friend when we moved.

I love to go ice fishing when I can, but the ice is very hit and miss here.  Its not the same as open water fishing, but it helps get me through the dreary winter months.

I do woodworking when I can find the time.  I want to try my hand at making some balsa crankbaits this winter in my down time.

Ice fishing but the weather is not cooperating right now so I've been stripping down all my baitcasters and cleaning them really good. And then next week my next semester starts up so anything fishing related will have to wait until the weekends.

1) Spend all the time I can with the kiddos. :)

2) Binge bassresource.com, Youtube, Bassmaster.com, etc.

Also did a garage "makeover" over the holidays, which included a new fishing workbench, and tackle organization.

You'd think for such a small state it would be a little more consistent. Out west guys are on a foot of ice in some spots and then you have south eastern MA where you could probably launch a boat on many lakes.

Guess I am more fortunate that I realize. There really isn't an off season here in Texas

I just picked up my winter project on Sunday. A 95 bullet 20xd. It needs a good cleaning, carpet, and the wiring cleaned up.

The off season is the time to tend to projects around the house.  Mostly inside projects, but if the weather is decent, I do some outside projects as well.

Repair a section of damaged clapboard.

Install wall ovens.

Remove carpet.  Replace with hardwood flooring.  Upstairs bedrooms.

I faced that same issue for years.

Decided to start building rods and it is keeping me occupied nicely.

I have my lures sorted now.  Next thing will be to put them on the shelf in an organized way so that I know where everything is.

Last year and this year other than hunting I've spent my off season decking out my buddy's v-haul. This season it's getting a rear deck with a live-well.

Work on the farm is dreadfully slow from mid-Dec. to about April. I have started the process of adding the Hazmat endorsement to my CDL this winter so that next winter when it's slow, I can hopefully hook up with a Fuel oil or propane company when they are looking for help during their busy season. The kids are getting old enough that I don't have to play Mr. Mom in the winter anymore, and not being busy is killing me.

Other than that, I keep "busy" by, cleaning the house, picking the kids up from school, reloading ammo, going to the range once a week or so, tinkering around with tackle and firearms, and waiting by the phone in case an odd job or two pops up at work and I have to go in for something.

I don't have to pick up any new ones.  I always keep more on my plate than I could ever hope to get done.  Now that cold weather bothers me because of meds I'm taking, winter actually puts a lot of the stuff I need to do on the back burner.

I have to 2000, Chevy 3500 van that getting water in the oil, need to pull the heads on it.  Not in the cold.

I bought a 2004 Beetle Convertible for $200 for my wife, or should I say my wife bought her a beetle convertible for me to fix for her.  Most everything is done and she's driving it but needs to back glass glued in across the top, but not in the cold.  I couldn't convince her it was too cold to build a carport for it, so that, I had to do last week.

I really need to rebuild the transmission in my 2500HD, but not in the cold.

I have a several old clocks and pieces of furniture I need to refinish.  Not in the cold.  Several of the clocks need the movements cleaned/repaired so I'm working on those also.  Just got two old cuckoo clock movements back together and working.

I've built a new rifle and need to develop a load for it, again, not in the cold.  I'm a very avid gunsmith and build my own custom rifles, plus I reload bullets/shells for everything I shoot and I shoot a lot.

I'm building two new coffee bean roasters, one air roaster, one drum roaster when it's not too cold in the garage to use the lathe and other equipment I need to use.  (I also roast my own coffee beans)

I've got a couple of outboards I'm building but medical problems have those on hold.

I'm building a professional model spot welder to weld tabs on lithium batteries to make battery packs.  Got the control board built, waiting on the LCD display and getting everything ready to go in the case.

I fly RC airplanes helicopters run RC trucks so I use a lot of different types of battery packs for those, plus I do have a degree in electronics and constantly doing different type of electronics projects.

I'm building my son a new super gaming computer to run a race car simulator we are building for him.

Also keep a 12x16 green house going with plants and starting my tomatoes and vergies for the spring

I could keep on typing for another long list of projects but I think this will pretty much show I don't need anything special to keep me occupied during the winter.

All of this I'm having to try and doing with one hand I just had surgery on and can barely use it.
